This is the best information site that I have found.
http://www.mvprolapse.com/
Make sure and get enough sleep, exercise, drink 8-10 glasses of water per
day, avoid caffiene and all stimulants (such as in allergy medicines) and
cut down on the bad sugars such as in candy and junk food. I have found that
all of these things have helped my MVP. Also, I try to meditate or pray
and/or journal once a day to release the anxiety. All of these things really
work.
I also have a leaky mitralvalve, but if you do all of the above it should
reduce the incidents. I had trouble with my heart when I was pregnant last
year because I wasn't getting enough sleep from being so huge, and I had
gotten the stomach flu, ear infections in both ears, and brochitis and was
taking an inhaler for it, and Claritan...which the doctor did not realize
would cause my heart to act up. But I went and saw the heart doctor and he
took me off of the medication. I finally got well and the symptoms went
away. That was my first incident in 6 years. I guess my parasympathec and
sypathetic nervous system got out of balance with the sickness and
pregnancy.

Subject: [MVP and MVPS Support] Just diagnosed and far from home!
> Hello everyone
>
> I am a 24 year old woman currently living abroad in France and have
recently been diadnosed with MVP. After years of chest pains, migraines,
dizziness, etc (you know the laundry list) I finally found a cardiologist
who thought to look for MVP and am comforted to know that I have a diagnosis
instead of feeling like I am crazy!
>
> The problem however, is that I am confused by my diagnosis and a general
lack of information because of the fact that I am in a foreign country and
was diagnosed by a French doctor. He showed me my MVP on the echocardiogram
and said something about a small leak which I am assuming means
regurgitation (yuck). After typing my report up and handing it to me he told
me not to worry and that I should not have to adjust my lifestyle at all
except for possibly avoiding caffeine. When I got home I tried to decipher
my report and then came the flood of questions. If anyone has the time can
you please help me with a few of these? It is very hard dealing with all of
this in a foreign country and in another language as I am sure you can
imagine.
>
> He has marked my prolapse as 1/4. Is this level one and if so what does
this mean? Can it get worse?
>
> He has noted a minimal leak. Does this mean regurgitation and should I
keep an eye on this?
>
> I have read about MVPS and it makes a lot of sense to me due to the fact
that I experience about 90% of the symptoms listed. How is MVPS handled
differently than MVP? I would be very interested to learn more about
managing MVPS as I would like to believe that this diagnosis could lead to
an improvement in my other symptoms such as migraines, anxiety, dizziness,
etc. How does one get diagnosed with MVPS?
>
> Are regular check-ups with a cardiologist important and recommended? My
doctor made no mention of this and that makes me nervous!
>
> I have struggled with depression and an eating disorder all my life.
Thankfully I have been on a medication for the last 3 years that has worked
wonders. I am beginning to wonder however if this lifelong struggle may be
interrelated with my MVP since I have read that there is often a correlation
between depression/anxiety and MVPS. Does anyone have any experience with
this?
>
> Any recommendations that you may have with regards to moderating MVP or
MVPS via diet or lifestyle would be greatly appreciated! I am a proactive
person by nature and the lack of information has left me feeling
disempowered. Thank you so much for your time and help.
