Hi, and welcome!
My name is Dawn. I was diagnosed with MVP and MVPS about 7 years ago! I was
first given just a EKG. Then I had a Echo Doppler 2, done in about 3 years
apart. I have hammocking of the mitral valve, but no regurgation, at this
time! They think it is mainly a birth defect, and I do get the clicking and the
palpitations, during extremely Hot and stressfull days!!! I take Atenelol for
it, on a as needed basis because I was taking it everyday, but my blood
pressure would get too low, and I actually fell and broke my nose in my home! (
Almost what happened to Barry Manilow, recently, lol!!) They might have to
break
my nose, again, because of sinus issues, but I am trying everything in my
power to not have that done! I have broken my nose twice in my life (once when
I
was ten years old!), and always had sinus problems in my nasal area! I don't
have a big nose, just a very clumsy person! LOL!!!
But I had the Echo Doppler 2 done, three times, once during a stress test,
when they make you walk, with monitors on and a doctor and nurses standing by
incase you get weak, and they speed it up to a certain speed and heartbeat, then
they rush you onto a table to look at your valves! I had an extremely hard
time because my chest bone is curved in more and they had a very hard time
looking at it, but they saw it before they said I might have to come back and do
it all again, after they inject me with some kind of nuclear medicine. I
refused, and they just bruised my chest, but they got the clear picture, and I
go
see my cardiologist, Psychiatrist, and therapist for my MVPS, and Bipolar two
disorder (Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Sleeping disorder). Your heart
and nervous system work together, and mine is just sooooooooooo out of whack,
lately!!!
On other another note, I do have a son, who is almost seven, and he has ADHD,
and we are still trying meds. He has seen over 8 doctors regarding his
situation, and there is no doubt in all of their expert minds, that he
definately
has it and his behavior at school has proven it! He keeps me on my toes, and
on my nerves! I am divorced, but recently engaged to a wonderful man, that
will help me out in anyway that he can! Unfortunately, he lives and works an
hour away, but is at my home, five days of the week, of course, after the
homework hassels and bedtime routine! WE are looking to move closer to his job,
with
a better school system, and hopefully a more relaxing atmosphere!
Just a bit about me, sorry so long, so much going on now, almost the end of
the school year, and my son refuses to do any homework! It is a hassel, and I
am trying to not get worked up, but I can't wait for summer~
I hope you can relate and the test are not bad, they actually relaxed me,
knowing how my valves are and on my road to getting my symptoms under control!
Let us know what happens and keep in touch!
You will do fine~ Breathe~
