If you have a problem with the human rights of people of other faiths
than your own, then you need to find your way off this list.
By the same logic (or illogic) you just used, then all Christians are
personally to blame for the atrocities in Bosnia and Kossovo.

The French want to remove the right of Free State Education to
Muslim Women. They think doing so will result in some of the women
to abandon Islam or a part of it in exchange for the right to attend
schools paid for by their own taxes.
State Employers already refuse to employ practicing Muslim women, in
this bill they want to give privet employers the right to sack
practicing Muslim women.
There are doctors in France who refuse to treat practicing Muslim
women.
This is the way they treat tax paying Muslims in France.
The least you can do so show your contempt for French Racism is to
refuse to buy French goods and tell others not to.
I have set up this site which contains a list of French products and
a Yahoo Group where you can post your say on the topic and other
French products you think should be boycotted.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/headscarfban/
Please pass the email to as many people as you can, please tell the
press, your friends, family, organisations not to buy French and to
spread the News!
Please past this on Internet bulletin boards and Yahoo groups. The
more people who Boycott France the more effective it would be!
Not a Khurta per se, but is this the sort of thing

Keep an eye on eBay; there was a recent auction for a
punjabi suit in a very large size. (My guess is US
size 22-24).
As for a pattern, try Folkwear:

Since you are in Seattle, your best bet may be to take a little trip to
Vancouver, BC. There is a wonderful 'little india' section. You should be
able to get sari's w/ matching choli's there. The chaniyo's...well pick up
a few multipurpose colors and you will be set.
Ebay is actually a wonderful place to find Sari's also. But each item,
sari; choli; chaniyo; will have to be purchased seperately. That usually
means that you are not going to get a choli to match a particular sari.
Some sari's have the choli piece still attached...but most don't.

I wear Punjabi suits - Salwar Kameez and Dupata all the time. I am
also a white girl. I wear them to Gurdwara temple and no one gets
insulted.
Most India people are very tolerant. You can find out how to tie a
sari on an internet search and E-bays dealers under the search word
sari will help you with the rest. Many dealers are India and selling
sari cloth. Look in your phone book for Indian culture center or
Hindu Temple or Indian.
Does anyone know where to get a pattern for a Salwar Kameez or Kurta
in really large sizes or make your own.?
Blessings,
Daya
My best friend and I have been facinated with Indian culture and
style for several years. We've been wearing bindis and indian
jewelry to accessorize our otherwise american clothes for awhile,
but we'd both like to branch out a little. We think sarees are one
of the most beautiful styles a woman can wear. They really
celebrate femininity, I think.
What I needed to know: where to get sarees for good prices over the
internet, or in the Seattle area in the states. And, do sarees one
would buy over the internet come with the blouse and petticoat part,
or do I need to purchase those separately? And if so, where can I
order just the blouse and petticoat?
About culture, I need to know if anyone would find it offensive for
us to wear the traditional styles. Do you think anyone might feel
that we were disrespecting their heritage in any way? Were both
brunettes, but pretty pale, and definitely american looking. Id
love to explore indian culture, but I dont want to risk offending
anyone.
Thanks

I haven't sent them to her yet, but thank you for reminding me. It does
belong there too.
While I'm writing to the group though, I've got some really horrid news.
I found out that Netscape's inbox has about a 47 megabyte
capacity...the hard way :(
So I've lost all my email from before today. So if anyone sent me

The exam preparation course for Ohio natural hairstylists is up and
running. If you're covered under 4713.34 (Reciprocity) then it will
count as adequate exam preparation. If you're a native of Ohio you
still have to do your 450 hours, but I'm hoping that will change if I
manage to put out some stellar scoring stylists.
Those not from Ohio are free to take the course for vocational
orientation purposes, but you'll probably like the one at UniversalClass
better because it's 10 bucks cheaper and much more casual.
To take the Ohio course go to http://studyitonline.com/pns/ and sign up,
and then click on the course name at the top right, and request
enrollment. It's only $30 even though I've been busting my tail for 2
months on it.
It's got all the braiding techniques...cornrows, dreadlocks, box braids,
fishbone tracks, weaving, bonding, etc. Plus you can request patterns
and styles if you like.

Dear Friends: I want to Share this with all of you, One day when i
was looking for clothing i found webpages called India Bazaar.
I saw some of their dresses and I was really appricated that they
were not charging any extra for plus size like others do. I hate some
time myself when i have to pay extra for Plus size. why do we have to
pay extra if we are BBW. So I decided to order one Silk outfit in my
size.
They had me send my special measurements and made the dress and it
fit me exactly.
I am very happy with the dress and the fit.
The material is wonderful and easy to care for and my friends tell me
it is the most beautiful dress i have. I am a BBW size...and a good
fitting ready made garment is hard for me to find. Finally i have
found a place that i can order...get good service and a wonderful
fit. and i am so appriciate with them so I promised to them that i m
a group member there are many BBW i will sure tell my all friends
about it. may be they will get some good bussiness from us. so if you
want to give chance to them i think you wont be sorry. Please look
in http://www.Indiabazaar.net
And one more thing I also ordered matching beaded jewelry with my
outfit. I wonder that was so diffrent then our beaded jewlery. Its
really wonderful to look more country stuff arround the world. I
changed my picture in my profile if you like to see my outfit and
jewlery you can look in my yahoo profile
The price is right and the delivery is excellent.
I will be ordering more dresses soon.
Thanks
Judy

Dear Readers:
I've just finished the first round of major updates to the MTC main site at
http://mtc.kthulah.net or http://mtc.rr.nu
Hopefully now it's a bit easier to navigate, and more interactive.
I've started using WWWToolz for our FAQ. Go there to submit any
questions you may want answered.
Thank you all for your support :)
Blessings!

Two new articles have been posted at the Modern Traditional Clothing
homepage. One is a report on fall fashion on the main page at
http://mtc.kthulah.net
and the other is an info page on dreadlocks at

Thank you for subscribing to the MTC newsletter :)

If you haven't seen it yet, here's a news story that's a must read.
It's good to see young women taking action for modest clothing.

Namaste, Salaam, Shalom, Greetings, Happy Chanukah, and a Blessed
Ramadan!
The newsletter is a bit short this week, because we're rounding up the
end of Chanukah, and also celebrating Ramadan and Christmas this month.
So things are very busy around here, as you can imagine.
I just want to let everyone know that I've changed the article and
recipe submission form to one hosted on our own site. So now, if you
want to make a submission that will be posted immediately, go to
http://mtc.kthulah.net/qaadd.html
and to view them, go to
http://mtc.kthulah.net/qaquestions.html
It's a sort of an adjustment of an FAQ script, to make it suitable for
article submissions. It has a search function, and uses only one file
to power it, so it's fairly simple, and problems can be taken care of
easily. If needed, I'll set up specific categories as we go along.
I've also put up a Top Picks section, that will feature products that
are useful to folks like us, by the season. The inspiration for this
was Vogue and other fashion sites' top picks. With the ugliness rampant
in fashion today, I felt that someone needed to speak up for class, and
that it may as well be me. If you know of a fabulous item that needs
more love, please submit it as an article or just email me the
information.
I've added a link to the group's bookmarks to Chivalry Today at
http://www.chivalrytoday.com
It's a great site for folks who consider honor and integrity something
that hasn't gone out of style.
...and speaking of which, articles on modern traditional values are just
as welcome here as the style stuff. My personal beliefs are just my
personal beliefs. This site wasn't just built to be an exercise in
narcissism, though. So feel free to speak up.
Take care, and happy holidays everyone :)
Peace,
The Webmatron
Namaste, Salaam, Shalom, Greetings...and Happy Thanksgiving to our
readers in the U.S.A.
Thanksgiving Thoughts
No matter where you're from, any day is a good day to consider all you
have to be grateful for. We must keep hoping and working, because when
hope is gone, so are we...and we humans tend to take others down with
us.

An Announcement and An Oops
The MTC main page's raw URL is now at:
http://www.kthulah.net/mtc/index.shtml
You can also reach it at
http://mtc.kthulah.net
or the old easy URL
http://mtc.rr.nu
About the easy URL, I forgot to update the shtml extension, so it seemed
nonexistent for a few days. I apologize for that.

Site Updates
I've recently installed Newspro to post announcements on the main page.
There is also now a database for recipe and article submissions.
Alternatively, you could let me know if you'll be submitting content
regularly, so I can add you to the users in my Newspro, so you can make
submissions to the main news section automatically. Write me at
webmatron@... if you'd like to do that.

Recipe of the Week
Easy Bread
This bread is sturdy enough to make sandwiches with, but doesn't require
hours of rising, or any kneading whatsoever. It is very high calorie,
but also high nutrition. This is a good bread for children, the
elderly, atheletes, or those with very physical jobs.
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius
You'll need:
1 metal cake pan (do not use glass, because it rises in the oven)
cooking spray, oil, shortening, or margarine with which to oil the pan
3 cups self rising flour (or regular flour with 1 teaspoon baking soda,
and add an extra teaspoon of dry yeast)
1/3 cup sugar
1 and 1/2 cups "solet" a.k.a. wheat semolina or cream of wheat
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
4 eggs (or 6 egg whites)
2/3 cup of cooking oil
2 cups 3% to whole milk or buttermilk
Instructions:
1. Mix all dry ingredients except for the yeast, with a wire whisk, egg
beater, or electric mixer, until the mixture is fluffy, and has no lumps
and plenty of air.
2. Then mix in the yeast last, but just enough to evenly distribute it.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the oil and eggs together until well
blended.
4. Mix the oil and egg mixture into the dry ingredients, until thick,
but without any dry clumps.
5. Then mix in the milk until it forms a thick batter. It should take
about 15 seconds for a drop of it to form back in with the rest. If it
is too thick, add a little more milk at a time. It should start this
thick, but it will not be that thick when you pour it into the pan, so
don't add any more milk after this point.
6. Let the batter set in the bowl for about 20 minutes, so it will form
a good crown when you bake it.
7. Grease your pan, and then pour the batter into it. It may fall in in
clumps, but this is okay. Don't worry about making it perfectly even.
8. Bake for about 1 hour, and then stick it in the middle with a knife
or skewer to see if it is done. If the tip of it comes out wet, give it
another 10 minutes and test it again. It is done when your skewer or
knife comes out clean with perhaps only a few crumbs sticking to it.
10. Cool on the counter, and then turn it over to remove it from the
pan.
This bread should be stored in a plastic bag or air tight container in
the refrigerator. I wouldn't know for how long it would last because it
got eaten quickly.
You can add sunflower seeds, nuts, raisins, or whatever dried things you
like to this recipe. If you add anything wet, keep that in mind when
deciding how much milk to put in it.

MTC Site Updates
There are many updates to the MTC homesite, thanks to CGI Spy's free CGi
services. More are coming soon, as I have just purchased an upgrade to
my BoomSpeed account.
Now, aside of the main URL, you can use our easy to remember URL from
OnTheWeb at
http://mtc.rr.nu
The updates so far include our own search engine, where you can search
or submit sites, forums, an FAQ section, auctions, topsites, and
classified ads.

This week's featured links:
This week, I'd like to give special attention to the charitable groups
who donate modest clothing to people who are new to faiths requiring
modesty, or those for whom it may not be required, but have been led to
wear hijab, or some other style of modest dress.
Even when, as a somewhat secular woman, with no objections to adult
consensual activities, I decided to dress modestly, I was somewhat
startled by how much it cost, and is still costing, to update my
wardrobe. For those with even less than my paltry artist income, it
must be a phenomenal burden...especially since, for some, gaining a
faith means having to find a new job.
So, if you have what to give, or are in need of modest clothing, please
take a look at these sites.

Kthulah
Dear Readers,
I know this has been a long time coming, but the newsletter is finally
ready to roll. I hope that you find it informative and useful. If you
have any suggestions, articles, or comments, feel free to email me
personally at kthulah@...

MTC Newsletter:
Sale at Priyanka's
Get 3 salwar kameez (with dupatta included) sets for as low as $99...5
sets as low as $135 at
http://www.bombayfashion.com
I don't know how long the sale will last, so if you're planning a
wedding, or looking to stock up your wardrobe, get there fast. Plus
size orders above 2X may have to add 20% to their order, if the fabrics
are pre-printed, but it's still a steal, even with that added.
What makes this deal wven better is that the shipping is included in the
price. They also have sarees too.
Make sure to tell them who sent you (kthulah@...) in the
comments area. I don't get paid for it, but I'm hoping to eventually
persuade them that MTC would be a good place to link to.

Fashion Advice and More
Go to
http://www.ammas.com
to get free advice on fashion, beauty, cooking, and spirituality, from
traditional experts all over the world. This site was inspired by
someone's actual Amma, and has helped many people who are far from home,
or without nurturing family support, get their needs met.

Product Review - Semi Permanent Makeup Pens
I've given the semi permanent pens from
http://www.cosmeticpens.com
a go, and found them to be a decent alternative to the long proccess of
henna mehndi, or dangerous permanent writing markers. The marks will
wash off with mild scrubbing, but for overall wear, they stay pretty
well for a few hours, before they'll begin to fade.
Another plus...though I usually can't use even "hypoallergenic"
eyeliners, I could use these without irritation. Do a test on a small
area of your own skin first, though. You might be even more sensitive
than me.

Bento Boxes
A variety of nice bento boxes are available now at
http://www.jlist.com/
They're in the "wacky stuff from Japan" category, in the "kitchen and
bento" section.

Casual Summer Kimonos Make a Comeback
http://jin.jcic.or.jp/trends98/honbun/ntj980628.html
This is an old article from 1998, but I hear it's still applicable, and
it has some information on what styles are now acceptable for casual
wear.
You can shop for vintage kimonos and supplies at
http://www.yokodana.com/
and get "happy coats" (something like shorter sleeved kimonos) at
http://www.goodorient.com
------------------------------
I hope you enjoyed this week's newsletter, and will take advantage of
some of the good deals. Please write a review of the companies and
their products, for the newsletter, so other people can decide better
whether or whether or not to buy from various places.
To my knowledge, all of the companies I post about have good
reputations, but if you've experienced otherwise, I definitely want to
know.
Thank you for subscribing :)
