Help for Serious Tongue Injury?

Our son has bitten off the tip of his tongue, as a result of which he is experiencing not only pain but also involuntary tongue thrust movements and drooling. We have taken him to several doctors, including a pediatrician, psychiatrist, behavioral psychologist, neurologist, and ear, nose and throat doctors, but no one seems to have a remedy for the tongue thrust movements and drooling, and no one seems to know how long this will last or whether he has suffered permanent nerve damage. We would appreciate any suggestions you may have for what we can do as parents and any recommendations of doctors who have successfully handled similar tongue injuries. Please feel free to respond off list to sandler.risa@ dol.gov. Thanks for any help you can provide.
