Lisa,
Please post this to the listserv. Thanks! Linda

Dear President of Speech-language and Hearing Association,

I am a graduate student in the Communication Disorders program at Eastern Washington University working under the direction of Dr. Jon Hasbrouck. I am writing to ask you to participate in, and distribute, a survey I am conducting for my master’s thesis.

This research is important to our field. It is designed to examine the current attitudes of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) with regard to the topic of central auditory processing disorder ((C)APD). The survey also examines SLP experience with and education on (C)APD.

Knowing that email lists are not commonly given out, I am requesting that you would copy and paste the letter below into an email and send it to as many SLPs as you are willing. My goal is to have responses from SLPs in various settings with wide ranges of backgrounds, whether or not they have ever worked with (C)APD (including yourself).

The information provided in the survey will be completely anonymous. There will be no identifying information associated with the answers. Participation in the survey is voluntary and participants may choose to withdraw at any time. If participants have any concerns about their rights as a participant in this research or any complaints they wish to make, they may contact Ruth Galm, Human Protections Administrator, Office of Grant and Research Development (509)-359-7971/6567.

This survey takes, on average, 12 minutes to complete. In order for my study to account for the most current information, it is important that it be completed in a timely manner. Data will be collected until January 25, 2008. If you would like to be informed of the results of this survey, please send a reply to this email asking for a copy of the results. Thank you. I greatly appreciate your time.

The president of each state’s speech-language and hearing association have been emailed asking them to forward this email to all of the SLPs they are willing.
