Subject: Looking for assistance with SCAN 3: Need subjects identified with
C/APD
(for the list-serv)
I am contacting you for assistance identifying students age 14 and 15
who have been diagnosed with central auditory processing disorder.
The Psychological Corporation is standardizing SCAN-3, and specifically
need to include students age 14 and 15 who have been diagnosed with
C/APD. We will be looking for ages 5-11 and 16-50 in the winter.
We pay examiners and examinees to participate in our field tests: $40
for examiners and $20 for examinees. Please ask your staff speech
language pathologists and audiologists if they'd like to participate.
The project announcement and information on enrolling follow.
Please share this with other audiologists and SLPs in your state who
might be interested. Thanks in advance.
Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists are Needed for SCAN-3: A
Test for Auditory Processing Disorders
Audiologists and speech-language pathologists and supervised graduate
students of those disciplines are invited to become field examiners for
the research edition of Scan-3: A Test for Auditory Processing
Disorders-Third Edition. The Psychological Corporation, a division of
Harcourt Assessment, Inc., is recruiting professionals to assist with
developing new norms and testing new subtests that further enhance the
assessment's screening and diagnostic capabilities.
The research assessment will take about an hour to administer. The
project currently is testing ages 12-15, with a special need to include
students identified with C/APD. The project is expected to expand the
age range to 5-50 after the initial data are analyzed.
All examinees should have hearing within normal limits and fit into two
categories: typically developing and those diagnosed with central
auditory processing disorder (CAPD).
Compensation for the project is as follows, per completed, usable case
which includes the hearing screening, parental or self consent form, and
completed research assessment:
Examiner: $40
Examinee: $20
Additional pay is available to sites consisting of three or more
examiners working together. Sites are especially needed for the project
to adequately represent the population that has been diagnosed with
CAPD.
Field examiners will recruit and qualify potential examinees, and
administer the research assessment upon receiving a confirmed
reservation from the PsychCorp sampling coordinator. As with all
PsychCorp research, we will be looking for sample diversity based on
geographical location, race/ethnicity, and educational background.
Please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues who may be
interested in participating.
To enroll in the project, you may click hereto
register online. If you are new to testing for The Psychological
Corporation/Harcourt Assessment, you should fill out the required
Examiner Agreement and Examiner Background Questionnaire that will
automatically open after you complete your examiner enrollment form.
We look forward to working with you.
