Feeding and its coordination with respiration depend
on oropharyngeal morphology. Developmental changes in the anatomy from infants through weaning, and the associated behavior changes, have a significant impact on the biomechanics of swallowing. We can better understand the multiple relationships among anatomy and function through the analysis of data collected from animal models.
