Hi,
I received this from a parent and wondered if anyone knew of a good source for this
kind of social stories.  I seem to remember seeing stories of this nature at one of
the venders' tables at a MDSLHA conference
Thank you for your help,
Emily Sudbrink

Social Stories for Social Skills/Friendship Skills

i posted this list on the MC-Aspergers board as well:

i'm looking for a book or collection of social stories written in Carol Gray's style that
describes social skills to aspergers kids... how to start a conversation, how to maintain an
interaction/play, how to transition while playing with a friend, why it's better to be polite,
why manners are important, what does it mean to be flexible when playing with friends,
and on and on.

i've cruised the internet at length and find only very basic stories that have more to do
with community, school, family: what is a library? how do we act in a library? getting your
hair cut, etc... i can't seem to find any social stories that directly address friendship skills.

my son is 6, and socially acts more like 3-4 years of age. no matter how many times i've
tried to explain how to engage another child and why, it's just not sinking in. someone
recommended writing these stories so they are visual. i thought they would already exist.
(see, i'm trying to cut down on the amount of homework i have to do!)

does anyone on this list know of any books or stories like this? thanks so much!

best,
staci
