Below is info. on this months support group meeting at our SPEECH PATHways office.  Please feel free to distribute to parents that you feel may be interested or attend yourself.  I am also attaching a copy of the flyer that you can distribute.  Our guest speaker this month is Jamie, Levine, OTR/L with OT Ventures.  She will be discussing “Sensory Integration & the Role of the O.T.”  Practical strategies that can be implemented easily at home will be discussed.

 Pathways to Parent Support

& Training (“PPST”)

 

What is PPST?

PPST is a group specially designed for parents & caregivers of children with speech & language delays/disorders.  The first group of its kind in Carroll County, PPST offers parent training and support.   Meetings include a meet & greet, a guest lecture on various topics & a Q&A time. Trained professionals & other parents/caregivers are on hand for support and guidance.  PPST is run and sponsored by SPEECH PATHways.  For more information visit www.speechpathways.net.

 

Who can attend PPST?

PPST is open to the community.  You do not have to have a child receiving therapy from SPEECH PATHways to attend.  However, it is necessary to RSVP to reserve a seat.

 

When does PPST Meet?

PPST will meet the 3rd Friday of each month from 7-9pm.

 

Where does PPST Meet?

PPST will meet at the SPEECH PATHways office located at 532 Baltimore Blvd., Ste. 403, in Westminster. (Westminster Professional Center)

November 18, 2005 “Playing with Purpose.”  Nika Hamblin of Discovery Toys will present on how to select developmentally appropriate toys to facilitate speech, language, cognition, fine and gross motor skills and how to make simple modifications to toys for your special needs child.

*No meeting in December*

January 20, 2006 “The Stigma of Difference.” Greg Rubin, local psychotherapist will provide coping strategies for families.

February 17, 2006 “Effective Parenting 101 in the Early Years.” Colleen Newman, local parent educator with My Baby & More will discuss effective parenting strategies.
