HESP 639- Special Topics in Medical Speech-Language Pathology:
Tracheostomy and Ventilator Dependence and Head and Neck Cancer

 

 

 

Monday-Friday
6-9 pm

Tracheostomy and Ventilator Dependence: effects of tracheotomy and ventilator dependency on speaking and swallowing, facilitating oral communication, deflating tracheostomy cuffs, applying speaking valves, assessing swallowing, quality of life issues, ethical decisions.

 

Head and Neck Cancer: head & neck cancer diagnosis and treatment, evaluation and treatment of speech, voice, and swallowing following surgical and non-surgical (radiation therapy, chemotherapy) management of oral and larynx cancer
