Re: Misc. questions for the spouces or those with DID...
Hi,
I have DID and would be concerned about my healing with a therapist
such as the one you describe. There seems to be a boundary problem,
but on top of that, the thing that sets warning bells off for me is
this comment:
You said, "He feels she treats him as a child and won't even go where
he wants in therapy (but yet doesn't explain where they're going,
what they're working on, or if she feels he's not read she won't
answer or tell him)."
I think it is important (and totally reasonable) for the
client/patient to know and even help determine the goals of therapy.
Knowing a "roadmap" of the whole process helped keep me on track and
see the progress so far. It also gave me confidence that the
therapist had a plan and wasn't just letting me stand still and
taking my money as we had reached the goal of stabilization. I was
able to work with my therapist to lay out a plan of therapy and know
at all times where we were in that plan.
Not sure that this helps you, but it is something to think about
whether you stick with the current therapist or move on to someone
else.
