Hello,

Kitty, in your reply you included a link

http://morelife.org/practiceindex.html

I found there some links to Michael Hurd, PhD, practicing cognitive therapist
psychologist, writer, and talk-show host provides a number of essential points
to keep in mind when considering use of "therapy".

The links appear to point to http://morelife.org/practiceindex_text.html

[These are Javascript links which we use so that we have control over the way
the linked page displays. The link address then becomes internalized and does
not display in the status line, unless we specifically include more code and
another copy of the link text to be displayed when you do a mouse over. This is
something we just have not had time to do, and we had not thought it presented a
true problem. However if you click it, you will get to the right place. All
MoreLife visitors must have Javascript enabled to use all features of our site.
--Paul]

but I always get the same page.

[If clicking the link does not get you to the right page on Hurd's site, then
you have something wrong with your browser. We have tested it under Netscape 4 &
6 and IE 5 & 6. Did you not click the link just because it does not show a true
link address? Does this mean that you have not followed most of the links on our
website? --Paul]

So I did a web search and found http://www.drhurd.com/

which appears to be by Michael J. Hurd, PhD.

Is this the same person?.

[Yes. --Paul]

I got some articles like

No Friends Of Ours
by Michael J. Hurd, PhD.

paste it below for you convenence.

The article makes a series of misleading and false arguments.

I am still nauseated!

[By placing a link to a few of his psychology pieces on our website, we
certainly do not mean to imply that we agree with everything on his website.
Like most people he suffers from inconsistencies of thought and great blindness
in certain areas. --Paul]

He is WRONG, EU is not against US, nor is any other country.
Maybe some people in the UE is against some of the Bushes
policies, but not americans. besides, there are so many relatives of
EU or any other part of the world in US to begin with. This moron
seems to ignore immigrants?

He reasons like: you are with or againt us.

[Unfortunately, this is the stance of almost all those in the US who favor the
Bush pro-war and anti-freedom policies. This appears to include most US citizens
at the present time. This attitude makes any true open and civilized rational
debate on the whole subject of Islam and terrorism virtually impossible. --Paul]

He is a liar, a fraud, an intellectual terrorist, and if he wants to start
the war against terrorist he should shot himself to start with.

I am against this war, I am against Hussein and I am against
intellectual terrorists like this "Dr" or any other kind. May he
wonder why US backed Bin Laden and Hussein and so many
dictators when politics though it was convenient. Just have a look
at CIA´s disclossured documents.

[I agree completely. It was US government foreign policies which brought on this
whole crisis in the first place. I think people like Bin Laden and Hussien are
despicable and I wish they were dead, but I would not sacrifice one innocent
person to cause it to happen. --Paul]

I need no more reading like this one. I do not want to
read/support/link to any site promoting war, terror, chauvinism,
irrational nationalisms, segregattion or any violation of human
rights.

I would very much regret if morelife is supporting this person.

[We are not supporting him and are just as much in disagreement with him over
this matter as you are. Never-the-less, on the subject of gaining self-esteem
and personal mental health he is right on the mark. Unfortunately in this world
one very seldom finds people (especially highly productive people) who are fully
consistent in all areas of thought. I have tried to learn to read critically and
to sift the good from the bad, but not to ignore good ideas wherever they occur.
However, we will put in a disclaimer preceeding the links so that this
misunderstanding does not happen again. --Paul]

Thanks for reading and sorry for the mood, but this made me fell
SO bad i couldn´t hold it.

[No problem! I also need to "rant" occasionally. Diatribes like Hurd's
thoroughly disgust me too. However, I do not wish to begin a discussion of this
extremely volatile issue on this group (which issue is also off-topic since I
have not written anything about it on the website, instead wishing to cover only
more fundamental issues), so I have omitted the text of his article which you
pasted below. I have only left a link to it instead. Here also are the direct
links to the Hurd articles which are referenced on the Practice Index.

http://www.drhurd.com/news_402.html

http://www.drhurd.com/news_410.html

http://www.drhurd.com/news_403.html

You can see by reading them that they all make good sense and say nothing about
any war or hatred of one group by another. --Paul]

Here is the link to Hurd's nonsense which upset you:
http://www.drhurd.com/news_488.html --Paul]

[I have been familiar with Dr. Michael Hurd's writings for about 10 years and
with him professionally for a few years less than that. However since he began
voicing his opinions regarding the cause of terrorist attacks on the World Trade
Center, I knew I would need to take the time to write a disclaimer for his site.
I will do so with the next update. (Read
http://morelife.org/personal/kittyreflects/kiton010920.html to see my views on
that event and it's causes. My opinion has not changed. However as Paul stated
above, the fundamentals are what is important to us here on MoreLife; without
such, erroneous thinking will inevitably lead to such horrendous writing and
actions by many, as unfortunately abound daily.)

Only discussion of the basics of interpersonal relationships - between
individuals or groups of individuals (remembering that "countries" are *not*
freely associated groups of individuals) are topics for discussion of this type
on MoreLife Yahoo. **Kitty]
