To anyone on this list - what body/mind changes have you seen fron
taking ALT-711?
[I want to make it clear that I have not been taking ALT-711 (since only Alteon
makes that), but what is the exact same chemical made elsewhere. I think that I
have seen softer skin, less callusing, lowering blood pressure
(systolic/disatolic down by 10/5 respectively) and more flexible joints.
Both my partly arthritic double jointed left thumb and (perhaps injured) left
knee) also seem to have healed and are rarely noticable. However, it is really
hard to tell if these changes are the result of generic ALT-711, because I began
taking NtBHA (N-tert-butyl hydroxylamine) at about the same time, or the
long-term result of the many other supplements that I take, or even all
together. --Paul]
[In addition to a high level of flexibilty - mentioned at the end of the
MoreLife Personal section on physical exercise
http://morelife.org/personal/health/physacts.html - my skin is far softer then
in years past, even my feet which had been heavily callused. (This does
sometimes present a bit of a problem when dancing in certain shoes, requiring me
to protect the tops of my large toes and/or my instep with mold foam or bandaids
to prevent blisters from forming.) However, it is the softness of my elbows that
most impresses me since they were terribly rough for as long as I can remember;
and elbows are more easily viewed and touched then one's feet.
The two major items - both on my feet - that I noticed: return of considerable
sensation, last year at this time, in 3 toes affected by an excision of Morton's
Neuroma from my right foot in June 1998. (The podiatrist had told me that what
sensation I had regained at 2 years post-op would be all I would see.) The
second is complete disappearance of deep marble-like hardness (?plantar's warts)
on the ball of each foot. I noticed this in June of last year; I had suffered
with the presence of these for many years but had rejected the podiatrist's
suggestions of removal since I remembered all too well my mother's questionable
success with something similar.
I have less of a tendency to sunburn then 2.5 years ago, a time frame which I
can easily recall since that was before I joined Paul.
My blood pressure has been noticeably lower since we started recording our vital
statistics (see http://morelife.org/personal/health/ ) then in my "previous
life"; then it was typically 106-110/66-80 with heart rate in the high 60's -
good values in comparison to the typical person. Now they are now even lower
and my resting heart rate is that of a trained athelete - in the high 40's to
low 50's. These values and my greater endurance is likely attributable in part
to the 30 pounds I have lost since 3 years ago when Paul and I visited for the
first time. (For a comparison of appearance check out our wedding announcement
photo http://morelife.org/personal/announcement/ to the photos I've managed to
upload more recently http://morelife.org/personal/photos/ )
In addition, there has been some decrease in the amount of gray hair but this is
more difficult to measure, though my hair dresser in Toronto did agree that it
is less then when she first started to do my hair in October of 2000. **Kitty]
