Just what I have been saying for years. Also related to other aspects
of aging degeneration. There is no longer any excuse for these
dysfunctions to continue to occur at the same rates and ages as they
have been.
But note the absolute nonsense of the last paragraph of the article.
"At this time, there is no effective cure for AMD, so finding
modifiable risk factors is important. While it's too soon to recommend
dietary slow carbs as a preventive strategy for AMD, replacing fast
carbs with whole grains may soon prove to be an early dietary
intervention to slow its progression."
The article author (and likely the study scientists) are confusing the
rigor of scientific *proof* with the use and application of scientific
findings. Since eating only slowly digesting carbs will not be harmful
and may help prevent a currently incurable dysfunction, it is entirely
logical to recommend the elimination of all possible fast digesting
carbs from the diet.
