Greetings:
I noticed that since you both moved to a strict 2 meal per day plan
that you both now only take 81 mg of asprin a day. I was wondering why
the large reduction from 200 mg and if it was becasue of some research
that more than 81 mg per day is not useful.
Erich
[It appears that you've read the Regimen pages incorrectly, Erich. Low Dose
Aspirin 81 mg is listed as "1E" which according to the legend at the top of the
(long) list of supplements taken at meals, means "one each meal". Therefore we
are taking 162 mg each daily. Previously on 3 meals daily we had been taking 81
mg at breakfast and supper with a 1/2 tablet at lunch (dinner). Breaking the
tablets in 1/2 was a pain and Paul decided that the ~20% reduction was not
significant for us. **Kitty]
[The only reason we were taking it the other way was to distribute it more. And
it is true that none of our supplements are now distributed as much during the
day as they were with a three meal regimen. However, my research suggests that
the supplements are mostly needed at the time of the food intake, and that the
longer period of fasting between meals would be more beneficial than the
additional supplement distribution. This is but one more example of the many,
many trade-offs that are necessary in any diet arrangement. --Paul]
[In the case of aspirin, some of it's main beneficial effects are it's
anticlycative and antiinflammatory effects, both of which are more needed at the
time of food intake rather than between meals since blood glucose and
inflammation generally increase in response to food intake (PMID: 15488881,
PMID: 12562833).
I take about 80mg of aspirin once daily and I chose to take it with breakfast
rather than supper. I do this because I usually eat more carbs during breakfast
than during supper and therefore am in most need for aspirins antiglycative
effects in the first hours after breakfast since that is likely to be the time
of the day my blood glucose is at it's highest and antiglycative measures are
most needed. -°Olafur]
