Strangely enough repressions saga didn't stop after we moved
legaliz.info
(Cannabis Legalize League) hosting outside of Russia. In the beginning
of August 2007 legaliz.info disappeared from internet. Ukrainian
hosting-provider claims that hosting was interrupted after unlawful order
of Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs that in turn originates after
request from Russian State ("General") Office of Public Prosecutor.
All
the issues seems to be resolved now - site is finally moved to US. I
hope that US is kinda "Russian State Office of Public Prosecutor"-proof
country.
There is a self-serve wiki for 2008 (and all years) GMM cities. Global Marijuana March. May 3, 2008.
Just click any city link on these pages,
and then click the edit buttons. Anybody can put in some info and
links. It is just like email. Except everybody gets to see the info.
I
figured out a way to remove the private, bracketed info almost
instantly from the detailed GMM-MMM city list that is emailed to
organizers. So I am now able to put it online every time the latest
updated 2008 city list is emailed out by Dana Beal.
GMM-MMM organizers and supporters. This is a great idea, and a great price:
From the forwarded MPP (Marijuana Policy Project) email farther down: "
Copies are 3 cents each, and a minimum order of 1,000 copies (or $30) is required. The price includes shipping and handling."
Maybe if we could get MPP ( www.mpp.org
) to agree to do a timely Global Marijuana March (GMM) newspaper
edition combined with the news happening around the end of April 2008,
we could start pre-ordering it now for distribution the week of the
event, and at the events. That way MPP could have time to write up some
background GMM info to include in this special edition, and also have
time to gear up for a higher volume of printing. Some possible sources
for background GMM info and photos:

Marijuana Policy Project Alert

Order MPP's "newspaper" for your event
Is there
an event coming up in your community where you'd like to distribute
literature about the need to reform our nation's disastrous marijuana
laws?
MPP's new publication, the "
Marijuana Policy Monitor," makes for a great giveaway at conferences, concerts, festivals, and other events.
This
four-page flyer, printed on newsprint, contains a comprehensive
overview of marijuana prohibition -- and why it should be brought to an
end. It includes information on the victims of the government's war on
marijuana users, taxing and regulating marijuana like alcohol, and safe
access to medical marijuana for patients. You can find more information
and view a copy
here.
To place an order, contact MPP's Membership Department at
membership@...
or (202) 462-5747, ext. 132. Payment by credit card (American Express,
Discover, MasterCard, or Visa) is preferred, but we can also accept
checks or money orders through the mail.
Copies are 3 cents each, and a minimum order of 1,000 copies (or $30) is required. The price includes shipping and handling.
Orders will ship twice a month from our fulfillment center in Ohio, so please allow time for delivery.
I hope
that you'll consider distributing MPP's newspaper at your next event
and spread the word about the urgent need to reform our nation's
marijuana laws.
Thanks for your support . . .
Sincerely,
Rob Kampia

If you're on the current list for
May 5, 2007, check out your listing on Worldwidemarijuanamarch.org or
on the list at the end of this email, and then email confirmation that
you DEFINITELY want to do it again next year plus any changes in your
email, phone or postal address.
I got an e-mail from Alexandra at the polish Hemplobby saying that you
hasn't recieved any report about this spring's Global Marijuana March
in Stockholm, Sweden. We're sorry about that. While the polish
movement are true activists, the swedish one sometimes tend to be more
like passivists. Here it comes though, better late than never.
At saturday the 5th of May we gathered at the square Kulturhustorget
to form a lineup. The march then went through the City Central, Old
Town, South District and finally ended at the park Fatbursparken where
we had speeches, poetry reading, live music and sets with Trinity
Sound System and a hiphop-DJ called Calle.
We had ca 300 people attending the rally in the park and 150 in the
march. The sun was shining and we had a good contact with the
authorities (only a slight disagreement about the content of the
permit). We recieved little media attention, mostly in the liberal
tabloid Expressen: http://www.city.se/Nyheter/1.663936
This paper has also printed editorials on the issue of legalizing
cannabis and turning the current hardline prohibitionist policy
towards harm reduction.
Swedish NORMAL is going through a change where we reconstitute and try
to get the more formal work done. The swedish political climate
climate is rather rough but we're going through a change. It takes
time though.
This summer the newspapers has been full of reports of the evergrowing
amount of marijuanagrowers, mainly small closet setups but also bigger
factorylike installations. The police force is overwhelmed with the
spreading. Nice trend, keeps the stoners of the black hashishmarket
and ensures them a good supply of unadultered marijuana.
Finally, it's most likely that Swedish NORMAL will host GMM next year,
first saturday of may.
PS. A completely different thing. Since you're living in New York and
I presume are quite involved in the local counter culture; do you know
Mykel Board, founder of the World For Free-network?
Russia
has both European and Asian cities. I think the dividing line is the
Ural Mountains? I don't know, and it seems that Russian cities are now
all put in the Europe section of some city lists. That is not
geographically correct.
