Sorry for the delay, i was away on vacations, then came Carnaval, and then it took me some time to be back on track. It would be nice if Rio was already in the poster/flyer, the one at the curs-not-wars home page. Excellent material. Beautiful.
    
    I was at a national harm reduction meeting in the beginning of the week. Recife (State of Pernambuco), Fortaleza (Ceará) and Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) seem to have come aboard the MMM2005. I'll just check the information with them over next week and send you their info too.

    

    We were also wandering if it would be possible to use the art of the material to print flyers and poster (also the one at http://gallery.marihemp.com/mmm/GMMposter). The March in Brazil will be on Sunday, May 8 - as it is easier as the seashore streets are closed for vehicles. So we have to change the info in art (corel draw, for example) or create a new one for flyers and small posters.

    
    It is the National Cannabic Movement - we are deciding if Rio will be represented by Psicotropicus or another organization. In Recife, for example, it is the Association of Users of Alcohol and Other Drugs. In Fortaleza it is the local harm reduction association.

About all 4 events being on May 8, i'm not sure yet. At this point i'm trying to establish a reliable network between the cities and its representatives in the GMM as it was all decided earlier on this week at a harm reductionists meeting in a city close to the bolivian border.
 
I hope by the end of next week i'll have all the information.

The march will start at the Peoria County Courthouse yard. We will walk west on
Adams, North on Liberty, East on Jefferson, North on Main to the US Federal
Building. We will make it to the US Fed. Building before 4:20. Then we will
head south, back to the Peoria County Courthouse yard sometime after 4:20

We are looking for volunteers to handout and post posters in their community.
You do not have to live in Peoria, you can live as far north as Bureau county,
and as far south as Sangamon County. I would like to see Peoria MMM posters in

USE OF TASER TO GET SAMPLE OF URINE BEING INVESTIGATED

ORLANDO  -  A  police  officer  twice used a Taser stun device on a drug
suspect  who  was restrained to a hospital bed because the man refused
to give a urine sample to medical staff, authorities said.

Antonio Wheeler, 18, was arrested Friday on a drug charge and taken to
an  emergency  room  after  telling  officers he had consumed cocaine,
police  said.  Because  Wheeler  said  he  had used the drugs, Florida
Hospital  officials  wanted  a  urine  sample. A police affidavit said
Wheeler  wouldn't  provide  a  sample  on his own, so workers tried to
catheterize him to get one.

The  police document said Wheeler was handcuffed to a hospital bed and
then secured with leather straps after he refused to urinate in a cup.
When  medical  staff  tried  to  insert  a catheter to get the sample,
Wheeler  refused  and  began  thrashing  around,  the  affidavit said.

At  one  point, police officer Peter Linnenkamp reported, he jumped on
the  bed  with  his  knees  on  Wheeler's  chest to restrain him. When
Wheeler still refused to let the catheter be inserted, Linnenkamp said
he  twice  used  his  Taser,  which  sends 50,000 volts into a target.

"After  the second shock (Wheeler) stated he would urinate and calmed
down  enough  to  be  given  the  portable  urinal," Linnenkamp wrote.

Forgive my overwhelming joy at your victory, Jeffrey, but all those 53 months in federal prison I knew what was right, I knew that the lying lawyers and judges were wrong, and I hoped so much that I might live to see the rightness overcome the EVIL that prevailed.

And my case is the least of those who have suffered.  Consider Author Peter McWilliams, murdered by federal judge King of Los Angeles who took away even legally prescribed Marinol from a dying AIDS patient, so the judge could convincingly enforce the Drug War begun the the Catholic Pope in 1188.

I got out of prison in April 1999 and contacted Peter just the week before his death.  I wrote to him that his suffering was not in vain, that the suffering of the flesh acts as a generator of Spiritual Energy which our Brethren on the other side of the veil can use - but not generate themselves - to add course corrections to our paths.  He just e-mailed back, "Thanks" and passed on that week.  Peter sends his great joy also.

Your story about hearing the news about Smith coming out of the teepee was just so typical of our path.  How better could that effort have begun.

I know that you have been reluctant to act publically regarding the church work, I surmise out of concern to not imperil the legal efforts.  I have no criticism of that.  If you chose to, though, and you are not already aware of the grass roots efforts of the Cannabis Churchs and others like Peyote Way Church of God in Arizona, there are a lot of folks that would like to converse with you about the legal issues, and more importantly about how this entheogenic religious movement will head out and mature.

And, of coarse, everybody loves a winner, and lord almighty, you be de winner now.

I got this letter from Jeff Laster. Kate Morgan worked on both the parade and Dr. Ken's Ibogaine book in 2,000 before she was deported back to England after being arrested protesting the Republican convention in Philly in 2,000. She was supposed to be married to Chris Simmoneck (sp?) at HIGH TIMES, but the bastard refused to file papers with the INS, and served her with divorce papers a month before the Parade in the spring of 2,000. My offer of marriage was genuine (she was a ringer for Kylie Minogue), and would have let her stay in the country, but she didn't accept.

I am frustrated because I could have saved her.

The reason I'm reproducing the letter here though is for the background on the movement, Yippie and otherwise. Fraser Clark, promoter of raves and re-inventor of the Zippies (not the original Tom Forcade Zippies) was actually on the ibogaine list pre-mindvox....

Dear Dana..Jeff here Kate's stepdad...Hope you are reasonably well......Anniversary of kate's death on Friday March 18th(anti-Iraq occupation march next day here)....she loved you  and respected you more than just about anyone else(she told me) and working with you  was a highlight of her life...I'm not saying that everything was rosey all the time but you gave her a lot and hopefuly she gave some in return...I wish she had stayed with you as the people she got entangled with here were a very rough crew (though nice) and encouraged her drinking and wrong drugging..a couple of women friends were into smack though she wasn't..I'm going to light a candle  in the evening her....I think she crashed the car(racing her boyfriend while drunk) about 10:15 which is 5:15 your time(she died instantly)......as I said to you  (and many others have too) you were an influence on 16 year old me in 1968-9(this is not just words...Jerry and Abby of course...literally the Yippie actions in Chicago are what radicalised me as I watched them on TV but you as well even though I only read about you)...Jerry I hung out with for several days at anti-war protests in Washington '70 and he treated me kindly....yeah there was ego but many did not treat me as kindly in my own Weathermen collective.....March 6 was TownHouse anniversary and i felt a mixture of emotions as I did on the day after  back then......I didn't really know any of the dead people personally though I did know Kathy boudin(who escaped) whom I adored...I recently  gave a talk at a Weather Underground film showing  and I led a discussion after the film as well...went very well full house...people romanticising the Weather people and I tried to achieve some balance.....just as people romanticised Jerry and Abby......only when you are close up to people in a thing do you see the weak points...anyway as jack lemmon said at the end of Some Like it Hot Nobody's Perfect........dana I hope Bleecker Street is sorted now please let me know what's happening.....I know how busy you are but I'd like to correspond with you if you're up for it doesn't have to be an everyday thing......could be interesting.....I try and see the 'alternative' culture from various angles.....talking of alternative history and the Yippie Museum Project(how is that going)  progressing) I was at a birthday party for fraser(clark) at a well known squatted  church here which has become the big centrepiece for a lot of happenings....anyway i mentioned to a few of the leading young activists that what was happening at the Church was a outgrowth of the Yippie and Digger scenes in the states..well they barely knew what i was talking about...which reinforced my feeling of the need for alternative education about their own subculture.....that's one of the reasons I worked with fraser for years conceptualising alternative rave clubs with late night talks and debates and film  and theatre centering around the alternative culture and the issues related to it.and teaching the history of our own subculture while not ignoring the present.....we did some amazing stuff and Shane whom you know was often there at the 'WARP Experience and other clubs we did..I'm not close with Shane but i respect him and admire him tremendously..some people who are jealous slag him off as they do you(and Fraser)  but do they realise how hard it is to be a leader in a supposedly leaderless culture......which is not to say Shane or you or fraser are beyond criticism.....I've had these raps with fraser as we philosophise about the alternative culture....I could say a lot more  but I'll leave it to you if you want to continue it(hope you do) .......I'll think of you on the 18th...xxxxxJeff(Oxford England)
