Dana Beal:

"What is going on for MMM 2004?"

I just looked at the home page for "http://www.cures-not-wars.org/" and I can't help make the observation that most activists would think MMM2004 may not be happening after looking at this page.

As we have discussed, previously, I stoped getting your mass emails about 10 months ago so it is difficult to keep up.  MMM2003 was very noticably diminished throughout Michigan and I believe the entire thing needs to be critically analysed if 2004 is going to happen at all.

I would love to help, however, my last 3 years of underemployment prevent me from doing much at this time.  In the past I have done what I could to help you out (e.g., dedicated webpages, created Active Server Pages etc. for MMM events).  But it is getting increasingly difficult to do anything now other than work jobs that I didn't need to get a college degree for.  Too bad we can't get Soros, Lewis, Sperling (or some other philantropists) to give us the same support given to people like Nadleman, Zeese, Kampia etc.

I think we could both make a very significant contribution if such funds were available.

At any rate, please let me know what is going on.  If possible put me back on your list and lets try to truely determine why I haven't been getting your mass mailings.

BBC wounded or triumphant???

Greetings,

As I have copies of the Hutton Inquiry transcripts to date and of articles from the British Press about the Kelly assassination, I am amused by your obvious distortions in the article claiming "Disputes over arms dossier wounds BBC" of September 1, 2003.

Lets see, The BBC reporter reports that Blair lied to Parliament about the claim that Iraq could launch an attack on Britain with bio-chemical weapons in 45 minutes - and that is confirmed by Blair in his testimony - that the claim that Britain could be attacked within 45 minutes was total bullshit.

The BBC reporter claims that his sources are close to the experts in bio-chemical weapons and Intelligence services.  Turns out that the source so far revealed (Gilligian claimed more then one source) is the #1 British expert on bio-chemical-nuclear weapons, the man Britain sent everywhere to investigate such weapons.  In addition, David Kelly is employed in developing British bioweapons - specifically Anthrax and Smallpox fueled weapons.  Kelly is such an expert that he works with our CIA in developing their Anthrax weaponized spores and is recipient of samples of the spores of the Daschele attack - which Kelly confirms as CIA anthrax.

Blair lies about revealing Kellys name to the press as a source for the reports on BBC, and is found out to be covering up after Kelly is found dead.

And you claim that the BBC - which is completely exxonerated of any false or malicious reports and which is verified as a cutting edge information source willing to bite the hand that feeds it - is Wounded.

Your CIA propaganda slip is showing again Grey Lady.

Dispute Over Arms Dossier Wounds the BBC
By WARREN HOGE

LONDON, Aug. 31 ?The BBC, the world's largest and best known public service broadcaster, sends out millions of words daily, but its long-nurtured reputation for accuracy, fairness and objectivity is being challenged for just 20 of them.

On May 29, the defense correspondent of its morning radio news show, Andrew Gilligan, said that the government had inserted into its dossier of intelligence on Iraqi arms the claim that Saddam Hussein had biological and chemical weapons that were deployable within 45 minutes.

Mr. Gilligan went on to say that "actually the government probably knew that that 45-minute figure was wrong, even before it decided to put it in." The phrase took only seconds to utter, at 6:07 a.m., but the effect has been long lasting.

It has produced a polarizing battle between the BBC and the government of Prime Minister Tony Blair that is being played out in the current high profile inquiry into the death of the source of the report, apparently by his own hand. He was Dr. David Kelly, a Defense Ministry weapons expert.

While most attention has been focused on the decline in public trust of Mr. Blair's government, the BBC's ratings have slid as its practices and internal judgments have been exposed. In a poll in The Daily Telegraph late last week, 47 percent of those questioned said their opinion of Mr. Blair had gone down since the inquiry began, and 36 percent said their opinion of the BBC had also fallen.

Both Mr. Blair and the BBC chairman, Gavyn Davies, testified last week, and neither gave an inch.

Mr. Blair said he considered the charge that his government had knowingly falsified the intelligence document so damaging to his integrity that he would have been obliged to resign had it been true. He complained that repeated attempts to get the BBC to retract the report had failed.

In remarkably similar terms, Mr. Davies said he had found the government's campaign "an unprecedented attack on the impartiality of the BBC and the integrity of the BBC, done with great vigor."

The government may have reacted with added vigor because after broadcasting his report, Mr. Gilligan wrote a column for The Mail on Sunday, an aggressive tabloid with a strong anti-Blair bent. It contended that Alastair Campbell, the powerful director of communications and strategy, was the person who forced the 45-minute claim into the document over the objections of the security services.

Mr. Campbell, who announced Friday that he was resigning in the coming weeks, took personal offense and turned the vast media apparatus under his command into a campaign to denounce the BBC, accusing it of systematic bias.

While the 11 days of testimony have uncovered evidence that the government was feverishly involved in the wording and shaping of the intelligence dossier, it has not turned up any corroboration for Mr. Gilligan's report that it deliberately published dubious claims over the objections of intelligence chiefs.

Though Mr. Campbell's angry campaign is widely criticized for having been undeservedly hostile, it has had the effect of disconcerting the BBC. Mr. Davies, in his effort to repel the government assault, found himself last week defending departures from journalistic standards as acceptable for the BBC.

The examination of the BBC is occurring at a moment when the 81-year-old corporation has embarked on a modernizing mission to appeal to a younger audience, leading to criticism that it is too big, too commercial and too eager to appeal to the masses. Mr. Gilligan, a defense reporter from The Sunday Telegraph with a history of breaking exclusive news developments, was hired for the BBC's agenda-setting morning news program to further a new goal of having the BBC make news as well as report it.

Mr. Davies told Lord Hutton, the judge leading the inquiry, that he had summoned the BBC's board of governors to an emergency meeting last month and obtained from them an affirmation that proper journalistic procedures had been followed in producing the Gilligan report. The inquiry was shown an e-mail message that Mr. Davies sent the governors afterward congratulating them for not "caving in to Number 10."

Documents released this weekend and other correspondence made public during the hearings show that the Gilligan report had in fact come under major question and that several board members voiced misgivings.

The governors had seen an internal memo from Kevin Marsh, Mr. Gilligan's editor, justifying the item as "a good piece of investigative journalism marred by flawed reporting" and citing its "loose use of language and lack of judgment in some of the phraseology."

Greg Dyke, the BBC director general, and Richard Sambrook, the director of news, had defended Mr. Gilligan's style to the governors as "one in which he reported in primary colors, or bold colors, rather than shades of gray."

Mr. Davies acknowledged that the board of governors had not tried to establish "the intrinsic truth" of the original charge before they issued their endorsement of the practices that led to it being broadcast.

Under questioning, Mr. Davies listed several paths for people to follow if they felt a BBC report had dealt with them unfairly, but he said that none of them could rule on accuracy. Lord Hutton's counsel, James Dingemans, replied that he saw no way a person "seriously aggrieved" by a report he considered wrong could get a correction from the BBC.

As a group, the governors faulted Mr. Gilligan's editors for not seeking any comment from 10 Downing Street before broadcasting the charge. One governor, the corporation's vice chairman, Lord Ryder, complained that the BBC was adopting tabloid standards of never corroborating charges. Another, Dame Pauline Neville-Jones, suggested bringing in independent monitors of BBC procedures "to answer charges that we never admit we are wrong."

When Mr. Davies argued in his testimony that the BBC was only broadcasting a credible source's charge that the government had falsified information, not making the charge itself, Lord Hutton asked if he really thought listeners were able to make that distinction.

Lord Hutton asked Mr. Davies if the charge had been about a public official taking a bribe, would the BBC have broadcast it without first checking to see if the charge was correct. Mr. Davies replied, "My feeling, My Lord, is in a situation like that you would ask the senior public figure whether it was true."

PAPER: DANGEROUSLY HIGH LEVELS OF RADIATION MEASURED AROUND BAGHDAD
Mon Sep 01 2003 15:05:42 ET
EXPRESS [LONDON]

SOLDIERS and civilians in Iraq face a health timebomb after dangerously high levels of radiation were measured around Baghdad.

Levels between 1,000 and 1,900 times higher than normal were recorded at four sites around the Iraqi capital where depleted uranium (DU) munitions have been used across wide areas.

Experts estimate that Britain and the US used 1,100 to 2,200 tons of armour-piercing shells made of DU during attacks on Iraqi forces.

That figure eclipses the 375tons used in the 1991 Gulf War. Unlike that largely desert-based conflict, most of the rounds fired in March and April were in heavily residential areas.

DU rounds are highly combustible and tiny particles of the radioactive material are left on the battleground.

If inhaled the material can attack the body causing cancers, chronic illness, long-term disabilities and genetic birth defects - none of which will be apparent for at least five years.

Veterans of the first Gulf War believe that DU exposure has played a role in leaving more than 5,000 of them chronically ill and almost 600 dead.

The Royal Society, Britain's leading scientific body, described America's failure to confirm how much or where they used DU rounds as an "appalling situation".

Professor Brian Spratt, chairman of the society's working group on DU, said: "The Americans are really giving us no information at all and think it is a pretty appalling situation that they are not taking this seriously at all.

"We really need someone like the UN Environment Programme or the World Health Organisation to get into Iraq and start testing civilians and soldiers for uranium exposure."

Evidence of massive uranium radiation has emerged in recent weeks. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle analysed swabs from bullet holes in Iraqi tanks and confirmed elevated radiation levels.

Last month Scott Peterson, of the respected Christian Science Monitor, took Geiger counter readings at several sites in Baghdad. Near the Republican Palace, his radiation readings were the "hottest" in Iraq at nearly 1,900 times background radiation levels.

Even the Ministry of Defence, which has consistently refused to accept there are dangers involved in DU exposure or that it has played role in Gulf War illnesses is addressing the problem. Soldiers returning from this year's conflict will be routinely tested for uranium poisoning. Professor Malcolm Hooper, who sits on two committees advising the Government on Gulf health issues, said he is not surprised by the radiation levels.

He said: "Really these things are dirty bombs. Exactly the sort of device that President Bush and Prime Minister Blair keep talking about being in the hands of terrorists."

Dozens of US soldiers, backed by armoured vehicles and helicopter gunships, searched farms on the outskirts of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul yesterday in their hunt for followers of Saddam Hussein.

THOUSANDS of Iraqis packed into northern Baghdad yesterday for the funeral of Ayatollah Mohammed Baqer al-Hakim, a Shi'ite Muslim cleric slain by a car bomb which also killed scores of his followers.

A senior official in Hakim's Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) said the Americans bore some blame for Friday's attack as they had failed to ensure adequate security measures.

Up to five suspects, all of them Iraqi, have been detained over the car bomb attack, the local governor said yesterday.

[IBOGAINE] Fwd: Dextromethorphan detox From another list

I am passing on some info on using DXM -
detxtromethorphan, a widely available OTC cough
additive which is an anti-addictive, and a
hallucinogenic - or disassociative, whatever, IT WAS
STRANGE, and long, and it sucked but it worked and OUR
KIDS CAN GET THIS STUFF EVERY DAY, which is like no
kidding and is used cause it also puts kiddies to
sleep quite nicely, like the illegal but legal in
baby-food l-tryptophan. In fact you can get high on
tryptophan come to think of it (I tried everything I
could think of and get my hands on - once upon
time...). Humm, thinking Patrick is rubbing off on me.

Any thoughts out there to using DXM post ibogaine
treatment? Anyone try it, I don't know of anyone but
it has come up in the past. From what I have read DXM
is very effective but seems to often get dismissed out
of hand - an OTC cough syrup, nah... shooting dope
instead is a popular solution though.

DXM might be of help to the patient returning from ibo
treatment (coutry where such treatment is legal) and
experienceing residual withdrawal symptoms while home
in a country where ibo is illegal.

Thoughts to DXM post ibo tx and see the below post

DXM has surfaced here before, anecdotal reports of "successful" detoxes. And i
know some old school fiends who used to get quarts of DXM from a sympathetic
pharmacist when dope wasn't available, or, affordable.

I wouldn't advocate the use of DXM post Ibo. If you take enough you get too
close to that warm sinking feeling that keeps calling you back... and I'm
certain you will be more sensitive to it post-ibo. Plus, if you have to pass a
piss test, DXM will come up positive for opiates.

I'd be really careful with ANY meds post-ibo, even tho you're all glowy and you
think you can handle anything, or worse, you take the attitude that you can
just dose again if you fuck off after ibo [this is stepping on hallowed
ground]... its not like the ibo zaps your receptors and makes you a miraculous
non-addict. Believe me, the fiend is still alive in there. I went and tested
that already. Don't Bother.

But you guys all know this. :^|

One thing that I'm not even sure if I've ever mentioned here on the list was
that in the couple weeks post ibo (while I was still over-seas) a friend gave
me some freshly brewed GHB which really helped with the exhuastion and the
post-methadonian torn and tattered edges. I think the dose was somewhere around
30ml mixed into juice. GHB made wrong can be BAD and I'm certainly not
recomending anyone go out and score some GHB. I repeat, Kids don't try this at
home. GHB-another helpful substance outlawed by pharmacists in high places
-thanks to them we get to worry about iffy bath-tub batches of many substances.

Do keep us posted wether the DXM kick sticks with you.

tryptophan is an essential amino acid; it is required for human life.
Rich sources of tryptophan include turkey, chicken, fish, pheasant,
partridge, cottage cheese, bananas, eggs, nuts, wheat germ, avocados,
milk, cheese and the legumes (beans, peas, pulses, soya).  It puts
babies to sleep because it is converted into 5-hydroxytryptamine
(5-HT) - Seratonin - a hormone used in regulating sleep.

You normally intake at least a gram of tryptophan every day, or you
should.

Surely, a DXM `trip' in comparitively uncontrolled conditions is
taking a step in the wrong direction?  It's a slippery slope back
down.  From the look of those instructions (a daily dose for four
days), I'd say they're targetted at immediate withdrawal, not long
term dissatisfaction.  In any case, you should not do it unless you
have all of the other ingredients to that cocktail, measured to within
+/- 20% of the stated amounts!

You're better off making sure that they're eating well (get a copy of
_The Omega Rx Zone_, Barry Sears, which has sound nutritional advice
based on real science).  Food has a hormonal impact on your body
stronger than many drugs, if you learn to use properly it you can get
naturally high all the time 8-).

It just depends what the subject is hankering for.  Is it general
`withdrawal' ?  From what, the feeling of being high, the feeling of
release, or the feeling of exploring new mental barriers ?  Perhaps
they just need to go bungy jumping or skydiving or ...

What does the dextro relate to.  I know that dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant OTC.   Then you get dextropropoxyphene and dextromoramide and probably others.  Just wondering.  Also.  Anyone out there have any really good remedies for this exhaustion from coming off methadone and having hep C and generally feeling like I just want to sleep and make it all go away.  I did think about trying to exercise to get the body working its own self but am just too tired.  Am taking milk thistle tablets, vitamin B, eating as much as poss and sleeping so much but still feel like shit and have lost about a stone or so of weight.  I wasn't very big in the first place and am now just looking scraggy (charming I'm sure)/  any helpful suggestions would be good.   Thanks Allison

Bro I am most interested in your experience with GHB post ibo. How was
it for you? You are posting about it in a good way so I would think that
it worked out nicely. I have never done this so I am wondering what it
did for you and how was it different then when you did not do ibo before?

DXM hasn't ever done anything for me that I would rate as good. It makes
me drowsy and I did give it a try a few times when I was still trying
to kick cold turkey and didn't know about ibogaine to get unsprung.

Peace out,
Curtis

Re: [ibogaine] Fwd: Dextromethorphan detox From another list

well, it was a positive experience for me. I just hesitate to blatantly say:
here -try this at home.

The GHB helped me tremendously, I don't know why I never mentioned this much
before, it took the torn edges of post-acute withdrawal and smoothed them out.
It helped me to relax and sleep. It helped with post-treatment anxiety (which
went something like "holy shit, I'm freaking out, I just went to heaven, hell
and all corners of the universe and died and was reborn all in 18 hours flat. I
don't feel dopesick but man I'm sure it's just around the corner..." and "what
the hell am I gonna do with ME? - who the hell is ME anyways? I haven't seen ME
in like 8 years" and all that shit. I only used GHB for about 2 weeks, usually
one dose of 30ml in the evening to wind down. My days were spent exhaustingly
wandering the cobblestone streets and Piazzas of italy. It was cool, but man
was it weird. It sure beat staring at a mural sized poster of the 12 steps for
30/60/90 days.

The effects of GHB for me was like a good alcohol buzz, without the toxicity,
foolish behavior or the hangover.

Um, I never tried GHB before my ibo experience.

If you are reffering to how was ibo different that previous attempts/methods of
kicking... let me count the ways. Dood, I'm too fried to answer that in detail,
I think in summary Ibo gave me self awareness that I am a spiritual being, and
it gave me insights as to how my dis-ease manifested itself in the first place:
I never felt safe as a child and drugs made me feel safe. Now a good shrink or
friend could probably have come to that conclusion quickly, but I was plagued
by social workers who either wanted to get in my pants or who were total
fuckheads who didn't understand the first thing about addiction. Or both. And I
wasn't seeing it. Ibo gently but firmly took me back to the root instance, and
all the branches of the paths and wanderings i followed in my life, to where I
was at that time, tripping on Ibogaine and I suddenly knew I no longer had to
be afraid, that I could build my own safety zone without dope, and that
everything was going to work out.

Of course I had to go and test the whole thing, but thats another story.
