The Campaign Against Marijuana Planting teams arrived in Mendocino
County June 29 on their first trip of the season.
The first CAMP raid occurred east of Ukiah in the Red Mountain
Campground area, mainly on US Bureau of Land Management lands.
Accompanied by County of Mendocino Marijuana Eradication Team and BLM
agents, the CAMP raid yielded 13,000 plants from a large garden.
No suspects were found manning the grow site.
In the few days before CAMP arrived, COMMET received intelligence from a
series of Drug Enforcement Agency training overflights about several
grows.
In the Covelo area 2,200 plants were eradicated from seven gardens.
In the Rose Creek McGarvy Creek area along Masonite Road near Ukiah,
7,714 plants were eliminated from three sites.
No suspects were discovered at the scene.
So far this year COMMET has already been involved in removing 62,000
marijuana plants from 44 sites in the county.
COMMET has also made 30 arrests and retrieved 33 firearms.
