Re: [Military Families Autism Support] navy

Wow! 100 miles. Well, it you were near a base, the
EFMP program would assist you with any problems
getting services and/or directing you where to go for
resources. I also invited the EFMP coordinator to
assist and sit in with an IEP meeting for Leilani. He
was there along side my husband for support in getting
what I wanted, as far as services and challenges in
homework/classwork. Not living near a base, I truly
don't know that answer. This program doesn't affect
the tricare program. Only because we were living on
base in Okinawa, Japan. I think out in town, from
other military experiences, you most likely pick up
most of the tab. I would go straight to Tricare and
ask them before receiving services. Do you have an
800 number?
I don't know if this was any help, but good luck. I
understand what you're going through. I admire you
and it is not an easy task raising a child with
autism. When the child is younger, it is much easier
to figure out their learning style and manage
behavior. My daughter is considered
high-functioning... Being a teen is not easier
because of moodiness and reluctance to obey. She
resists your efforts and it leaves me drained.
Good Luck again,
Christine
