Lisa, after passing out my contact probably over thousand times in the past
three years, I think I volunteer to handle questions for the southern MD,
northern VA and DC area. I also have contact info for military parents in
the Hampton Roads/ Norfolk VA area. Additionally, there is state by state
comparison info on the second page of the link at
http://www.poac-nova.org/base.cgim?template=new_parent_resource_suggestions,
which I maintain for our local parent support group. Scott

Actually, I've been thinking of doing that very thing, but have it be more
of a database of contact information for each base - parents to contact,
along with the age of the child and the time they were there. Would you like
to work on this with me? I was going to put it on my website
www.myautismnotes.com (it's not finished yet, but there is some stuff up).

Subject: We need a database to help us find therapists
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else wanted a database of names/numbers of parents
who would be willing to answer questions about doctors, schools and
therapists? I am sooo sick of moving to a new post and not having a central
area to get information about services for my child. Yes, I know each state
has parent/parent groups and etc. There are tons of support groups off
post. Not on posts.
Why don't we have something through STOMP or EFMP? We are moving to Kansas
next year and I have to call numerous contacts across the US to find someone
in Leavenworth who can give me names/numbers of therapists who take
ECHO/Triwest. Is this frustrating to any of you? I live on a post with the
largest number of EFMP families. When you move here you don't have anyone
on post who can give you names and numbers of known therapists who take
triwest and services offered by disability. Instead you get a huge state
services book. I don't want a state service book
and off post support groups. I want to talk to a military parent who
has a child using services so I can find out who takes triwest and how they
got it. I need information about wait lists before we move. I know I am
rambling but this is so frustrating to me! Am I the only one who would like
some sort of database with central information that can help me? Why can't
STOMP or EFMP help moving and finding services a little easier for us?
