Journal of Agromedicine NEWS UPDATE

Journal of Agromedicine NEWS UPDATE

March 2009

From: Scott Heiberger, Managing Editor

PRODUCTION

Journal of Agromedicine 14(1) is now being mailed, on time. It features a salute to Kelley J. Donham, selected by the Editors and Associate Editors as the Journal of Agromedicine 2009 “Leader in the Field.” Dr. Donham is a pioneer in agricultural health and safety in veterinary medicine, research, education, and policy development, and continues to be a vibrant force in these areas on the state, national, and international levels. Also in this issue is a paper by Dr. Donham, “The Changing Face of Agricultural Health and Safety - Alternative Agriculture,” from a conference held in Omaha, Nebraska: The Changing Face of Agricultural Health and Safety: Biofuels, Food Safety, and Alternative Agriculture.

The present issue also includes papers on the topics of: adolescent and youth participation in agricultural tasks on Wisconsin dairy farms (Chapman et al.); lack of sleep and depression as significant variables associated with chronic low back pain in migrant farm worker families in Texas (Eva Shipp et al.); ergonomic solutions and youth (Kotowski et al.); adequate primary health services for the increasing number of Spanish-speaking employees in Northeastern dairy farms (Jenkins et al.); diplopia related to green tobacco sickness in Polish tobacco production (Satora).

NEXT ISSUE

Don’t miss our next issue, due out in late May, containing nearly 30 papers from Sixth International Symposium: Public Health and the Agricultural-Rural Ecosystem, held last October in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
