Hello all- studying some of these issues here in Yucatan, I can think of many
reasons why it would not be culturally appropriate- or perhaps may not would be
a better way to put it- it is not only the linguistic aspects, but the patterns
of family caregiving and relations with fictive kin, non-family members and the
"official" world that differ. If you are going to study protective factors-
protective for what? And with an instrument thay has not been validated with
this population, how do you know you are not just measuring acculturation?
Sorry for the longish post!
