Dear migrant health researchers,
Each year the Paso del Norte Health Foundation through the Center for Border
Health Research (Center) provides funding for health research in the Paso del
Norte region, defined as far west Texas, southern New Mexico and Cd. Juarez,
Mexico. The purpose of this funding is to enable local researchers to generate
preliminary data that will assist them on obtaining external funding for larger
research projects from sources such as the National Institutes of Health and
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Funding for these grants ranges
from $30,000 - $75,000 and research projects are up to eighteen months in
duration. All projects must have clear relevance to the US/Mexico border
region. Inter-institutional and binational collaboration is encouraged.
The 2007 Request for Proposals (RFP) for pilot research grants is now
available. Letters of intent (LOIs) are due in the Center office by noon on
March 2, 2007. Investigators whose LOI is deemed acceptable will then be
invited to submit a full proposal which must be received at the Center no later
than noon on June 1, 2007.
Questions about applying for funding should be directed to Suzie Focht at
915.577.0970 or sfocht@...
