Post-conference Promotor/a
Trainings
January 28-29,
2007
Doubletree Hotel
Together Migrant Health Promotion and NWRPCA are offering
two post-conference promotor/a program
intensive trainings for different audiences, January 28-29:
Training 1
1) Promotores(as) de Salud:
Leadership with Head, Hands and Heart
January 28, 1-5 pm; Space is limited to 20
registrants
DESCRIPTION
Facilitators from Migrant Health
Promotion will begin this interactive workshop by building on participants’
existing knowledge of the roles that guide the head, the skills that guide the
hands, and the personal and professional qualities that guide the heart of a promotor(a). As a result of these
multiple responsibilities, promotores(as)
quickly become identified as leaders, which can be
challenging and
exciting all at once. What does being a leader mean when
building community strength and capacity? What does leadership mean within the
community-empowerment philosophy of Popular Education? How can a promotor(a) become an effective and
respected leader, yet balance personal and family needs? Different styles and
types of community leadership will be discussed.
Target Audience:
New promotores(as), program
coordinators and others who want to learn promotor model fundamentals.
