Hello,
Rene
Quintana here from Del Norte California,
there is a Michael Gomez who has been specializing in nutrition and
Hispanic obesity for years and would be an excellent resource. We are including him in our promotora
program in Del Norte.
Sincerely,
Rene
Quintana

[migrant_health_research] Migrant farm worker nutrition -- help, please!
Hi Jenette,
Migrant Health Promotion has a chapter and accompanying
teaching curriculum on nutrition for Promotoras in its Camp Health Aide
Manual. You can view these documents by going to our website - www.migranthealth.org, although the
Manual is in the process of being revised. You could also contact our
REACH project in Texas to ask about nutritional materials they have developed
or are aware of for Promotoras to use with diabetic community members.

My best, Tori Booker

Migrant farm worker nutrition -- help, please!
Hi Everyone!
I am an MPH student intern working on a project related to nutrition among
Mexican farm workers in the US. I was wondering if I could solicit some
information/suggestions for the following areas:
1. I am looking for information on the
dietary behavior (food consumption, gender issues, access/barriers to eating
healthy, food security, etc.) of male Mexican-born farm workers. I am
especially interested in information on recent arrivals and changes in diet
upon migrating to the United States. Is anyone aware of any
studies/projects/data of this nature? (maybe someone has some data on
nutrition that has yet to be analyzed...?)
1. Also, my organization is considering
developing a training manual on nutrition for promotoras
working specifically with migrant farmworkers. Does anyone know whether
any manuals of this sort already exist?
Thank you so much for your help,
Jenette Spezeski
