The National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) is pleased to announce two conference calls scheduled for 2005. The purpose of this topical conference call series is to provide technical assistance and consultation to Bureau of Primary Health Care-funded programs, on culturally and linguistically competent practices and their implications for service delivery.

BPHC call 1: Cultural Competence Organizational Self-Assessment
This call will provide rationale and benefits of self-assessment, processes for conducting organizational self-assessment, effective use of results from the self-assessment to: 1) gauge satisfaction with services, 2) establish partnerships, 3) develop or revise policies, 4) allocate personnel and fiscal resources, 5) plan for staff development, and 6) determine individual and collective strengths and areas for growth. The Cultural Competence Policy Assessment instrument will be highlighted.

BPHC call 2: Using the Cultural Competence Health Practitioner Assessment to Promote Culturally Competentractices
This call will focus on the use of the Cultural Competence Health Practitioner Assessment (CCHPA) to enhance the delivery of high-quality services to culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and underserved communities. Discussion will include suggestions for use of the tool to promote individual or organizational growth in cultural and linguistic competence and its uses as a teaching tool.
