POSITION OPENINGS:

CAPACITY-BUILDING DIRECTORS

MIGRANT HEALTH PROMOTION

Migrant Health Promotion, a national nonprofit agency dedicated to health education and advocacy for farmworkers, seeks experienced and committed individuals to serve as Capacity-Building Directors.  The Directors assist Migrant/Community Health Centers, Voucher Programs, community-based organizations and others with developing, implementing, and evaluating Camp Health Aide or Promotor(a) de Salud programs.  Responsibilities include presenting and promoting the Camp Health Aide Program model regionally and nationally, training Health Center staff in grant writing, program planning, implementation and evaluation, developing health education programs and materials, and other related activities.

Preferred skills include health promotion, program development, management, evaluation, training, facilitation, grant writing, and spoken and written Spanish.  Experience working with Promotores(as) de Salud (Community Health Workers), migrant and seasonal farmworkers, and Migrant/Community Health Centers and Voucher Programs is also recommended. A master's degree with specialization in public health, social work, or a related field -- or the equivalent life experience -- is preferred.

Currently, two positions are open:

·        The Regional Capacity Building Director is based in Migrant Health Promotion's office in Saline, Michigan. (Saline is 15 minutes from Ann Arbor.) However, we will also consider outstanding applicants who prefer to work from another location. In addition to the tasks described above, this position is responsible for contacts within a specific region (West, Midwest or East).  This position could be full-time or could be split into two half-time positions. The hours are flexible and could accommodate other work, but travel to migrant health conferences is required.

·        The National Capacity-Building Director is based in Migrant Health Promotion's office in Saline, Michigan. This is a full time position. In addition to the tasks described above, this position includes supervising the other Capacity-Building Directors, writing grant applications and reports, budget monitoring, and other administrative responsibilities. This position also oversees the Southeast Michigan Camp Health Aide Program, a Community Health Worker Program for migrant farmworkers. Responsibilities include supervising the Program Coordinator, designing objectives and evaluation strategies, writing grants and reports, monitoring progress on objectives, and conducting focus groups.

Both positions are grant-funded with some evening and weekend hours expected.  The salary is commensurate with skills and experience and with the non-profit pay scale. Benefits are very generous.  Frequent travel to meetings and conferences throughout the United States is expected.  Migrant Health Promotion is an equal opportunity employer and offers a fun and supportive work environment.
