Just thought I would share this with y'all.
I receive information about epilepsy alot. Don't ask me how they get my
address. With my memory these days....who knows - hahaha.
Anyway -
In a pamphlet I received titled -Seizures & Epilepsy, Hope Through Research
from the National Institute of Neurological Disorder & Stroke -
There is articles on research. Now they discuss the VNS, surgery, & the gamma
knife.
Then they speak of two new devices that may become available in the future.
this is what they say:
Several new devices may become available for epilepsy in the future.
Researchers are studying whether transcranial magnetic stimulation, a procedure
which uses a strong magnet held outside the head to influence brain activity,
may reduce seizures. They also hope to develop implantable devices that can
deliver drugs to specific parts of the brain.
Now this is the only info. they have about this. I just thought, if anyone does
not know of this already, that y'all would find it interesting. I know I did.
I do plan on looking it up on the Internet. Just have not had the time lately.
Anyway, like I said I found it to be interesting and wanted to share with you
all. If anyone knows of more info on this please share with us. And if I find
out anything more I will let everyone know.
Y'all take care and have a good weekend. I may not be back on till Monday. I
leave this afternoon to go to my boyfriends house.
Oh..I believe that this is the web page. It is - www.ninds.nih.gov
Take care
Ashley
