Hello-
My migraines started in fifth grade, my seizures started in
seventh. I found out this August that I have a blood sugar disorder
that is aggravating my seizures and causing most of my migraines as
well as other symptoms. Before that I spent two years completely
bedridden by my migraines, If I moved my head to fast I could throw
up. They put me on 360 mg of Propanalol and I think 1000 mg of
Depakote, plus Zomig, 5mg, basically every day, and that was all for
the migrains. At this point I was still in to much pain to go like
go to school or anything, but I could prepare my own food and do the
dishes etc. I still had a migraine every day, it was really bad.
Then my boyfriend paid for Botox and I was amazed. You get this
shots and they really burn. But it works right away, it lasts longer
each time, and it's more effective each time. Because your muscles
keep atrophying the longer you get it. It actually worked
dramatically better after the ninth month. What I think is really
beneficial is that it doesn't interact with any of our epilepsy
medications the way that other drugs can. I was able to stop using
the zomig after I started using it.
If you're creeped out by the whole most powerful toxin known to
man thing you could try acupressure. I had interesting results with
a chinese acupuncturist once. It was incredibly painful though, my
migraines were nowhere near this bad, and it lasted a little more
than a week.
FYI If you do decide to do this, I went to the plastic surgeon
who sewed my best friend's finger back on because I wanted someone
who knew her musculature, not someone who works at a spa
concentrating on wrinkles. She'd actually been to a seminar on this
like four months before this so she was totally excited when I asked
her about it. Just thought I'd share. -Tish
