Mark,

I concur that going off medication is foolish - unless you are under a doctor's
supervision. I am drug-free today with the help of doctors. Of course, I went
on medication more than 34 years ago under the advice of doctors, too. So, I
hope you can see the importance of continuously asking doctors questions about
your options for improving your quality of life. In some cases, improving a
person's quality of life can mean carefully being weaned off medication. But,
you will never know what your options are if you do not continue to ask. The
field of medicine is constantly learning new things. You need not remain in an
"old rut" by assuming that there aren't better options out there...simply
because that is the way you have always done it.

Did you ever read the book, Epilepsy: A New Approach? It is not a brand-new
book on epilepsy, but it may very well be one of the best ever written. The
book should be available in your public library. I encourage you to take time
to take a look at that book. It just might provide you with some helpful
information that could transform your life for the better.

Good luck.

Lamar Morgan

Subject: [migraines with epilepsy] Re: Seizure Control Training

I've heard of some people talk about it but only within the context
of never again taking meds, which I think is as foolish as foolish
can get. I had to readjust my meds a couple weeks ago because of an
accident and I had seizure after seizure after seizure for weeks.
Now my Dilantin level has been raised and my seizures are less severe
and less often. So, as far as meds go I never want a seizure again
and I'll do whatever it takes for that to happen.

However, I do think our lifestyles can affect seizure amount and
intensity, so I'd be interested in hearing about what you're talking
about. If you find something please let us know.

Mark
