Dear Friends,
I am new to this group but definitely not new to seeking alternative
therapies for my daughter's seizure disorder. She was born
prematurely in 1989 at 26 weeks gestation. Her DX is spastic
quadriplegia, cortical blindness & eptilogenic activity of the right
frontal lobe.
In the early years, my daughter was on Phenobarbital, Clonopin & ACTH
but was weaned off the meds at 13 months of age. Throughout her life,
she has suffered from transitional seizures; which occur upon the
first hour of going to sleep or in the early waking hours. The
seizures are associated with REM sleep & since she also suffers from
nervous system instability, her sleep patterns were very irregular
because she could never really reach a state of total relaxation. Her
seizures also followed a 30-day pattern or cycle, whereby she could
never pass one month, without have a Grand Mal at night or in the
early morning.
Through my constant searching, I contacted Alex Sutton, a Classic
Biochemist, whose practice is located in Queensland, Australia. He is
Chairman of the Asia/Pacific Branch of Biochemic Medicine. This
natural approach to many diseases/disorders uses the applications of
mineral therapy. Alex Sutton is a qualified and very experienced
practitioner in his field. This medicine was used & practiced in the
1800's by Dr. Wilhelm H. Schuessler, in which he reached the
conclusion that the normal function of the cell is dependent on a
normal dosage of mineral salts.
Mr. Sutton determined what my daughter's mineral deficiencies were,
by reviewing her complete health history, diet, supplements
&medications, before prescribing for her specific condition.
She began mineral therapy in September 2001 and since then, has had
only 2 seizures, one of which I had to intervene with a diastat
suppository. Although she does not take anti-convulsants regularly, I
keep diastat on hand in the event that she needs it.
The mineral therapy has broken my daughter's "30 day seizure cycle"
and has also given her to ability to sleep in a deep and restful
state. Extreme fatigue, poor sleep or lack of sleep are "major"
trigger points to those suffering with a seizure disorder.
I used to turn my daughter about 8 times in her bed, before she would
finally fall asleep. I also use to spend a good part of the evening,
turning her in a comfortable position because she never seemed at
rest. She is so very calm now, during sleep & throughout the day.
I would certainly recommend reviewing Mr. Sutton's Website at:
www.biochemics.info
or email him at: alexsutton@... I only wish that I would
have known about this years ago…
Sincerely,
Paula
