Hello I found my way to this club because I am a
member of another midwifery board and I was searching
the index.

I am a Doula, and I am the director
of a volunteer doula service in California.
Currently I am studying both childbirth education and
midwifery. I am an apprentice under a CPM and have been
studying the theoretical part for a year now.

I
was slowed down a little this year in June when I had
a baby girl. She died of a birth defect called
Anencephaly.

That experience was the defining point for me that
told me that all women need midwives. The medical
establishment can be so cold and cruel when you are carrying a
child that is not normal, in fact they called me every
day to schedule an abortion or ask me how and why I
would want to carry a baby like that to term. In
retrospect I know that midwives would have been so gentle
and loving like my teacher is herself. Unfortunately,
we could not afford the price, plus I went in labor
prematurely at home alone so I ended up in a hospital
commanding the staff to do as I tell them to do :).

I
look forward to joining your list too and
participating when I can. I cannot get online every day right
now but hopefully it will be real soon. Anyone can
email me at one of my many email addresses, my personal
one is dical@... and I also have one strictly
for my education which is
healthwise@....

God bless you all please think of me,
Diane
