O-Cello sponges in the U.S. The ones without the abrasive on one side.
If you can't find that brand almost any kind of man made square sponges
would work as well.

sponges are variable in water-retention. you want high water retention so it will conduct well. plastic sponges are less retentive than natural or cellulose...
