I just received Zachary's sleep study results and it does not look to bad. The
last one he had found his seizures so I geuss they are now under control. But
he was found to have primary snoring with excessive daytime sleepiness with 1
episode of obstructive hypopnea.
Ok a little history first, he had his tonsils and adnenoids removed when he was
2 1/2, was diagnoised with obstructive airway disorder at 1 1/2 and was put on
oxygen at night to help with that but they said he out grew that so he stopped
using oxygen by age 3. He also has centralized hypotonia and neuromuscular
scoliosis.
My help I need is this. Should I push them to some how get him to sleep with no
obstruction? Also he took 41 mintues to fall asleep during the study but at
home he takes at least twice as long. The neuro wants him to take Clonidine but
is this a safe medicine and does it work? He is tired during the day and
sometimes just lathargic, and he starts middle school this year and they won't
allow him to sleep throughout the day like they did in grade school. Please
help.
