Hi,
It's been awhile since I have been communicating with in this group.
Some of you may remember us, My son is Zachary T. It is hard to
belive he is now 10 years old, he was never to live past 5 according
to the doctors. His last hospital stay was six years ago and since
then he has been doing well health wise. We did get news late last
year that he does have a seizure disorder and the first stages of
sceoleosis (sp). But if you want to read about his history just go
to www.hugsandhope.org he was featured in Sept 2001.
Now on to what I need help with. Zachary also has ridgid flat feet
with tight heel cords. When he was 2 he wore AFOs to help with this.
He just recently went to a foot doctor who gave us some bad news. He
took x-rays of Zach's feet and told us some of his feet bones are
malformed and he also has juvenile bunnions. Because of this he
needs to have surgery to correct the problems or else when he starts
in his teen years he is going to have horrible pain in his knees and
hips. Has any one had their children have this type of foot
surgery ? If you have what can I expect ? I just would like to know
if he will be in casts for a while and how long the healing process
will be.
Thank you
Deborah T
