Hi, Brenda. My son with microcephaly is 3. I
noticed you said your son was non-verbal. My son is
also pretty non-verbal, and the neurologist says we
should be concerned since he is 3. I was wondering if
your child has hypotonia, or low muscle tone. We
think this is the reason our child can't speak or chew
food. He eats food well, but we cut it up small, and
he moves it around and then swallows it. Anyway, we
are preparing ourselves for the reality that Blake may
never be verbal, so I wanted to ask about some of your
experiences with your child and his journey with
communicating. Does he do sign language? Does he
make any noise at all? Regarding using utensils, if
the utensil has food on it, can he put it to his
mouth?? Any other information you have regarding
communicating, eating, etc. would be very helpful.
