I just cleaned out the asbestos shed of my father who recently died of
asbestos related complications. So this has been on my mind also.
I'm a techie, analytical, Virgo sort of person and I did some limited
research, particularly after hearing some high people saying you could die
with one fiber, which immediately makes me look into it.
I have also developed a method where us "boys" will remove the remaining
asbestos from that property in the country. It can be done, but it was
clear to me that the Government does not know whether one particle can kill
you or not. I don't think you can get a definitive answer to that question.
The fact is, no one knows. That's what I saw.
However, having said that, it does seem it's only people like my father who
built a small 1-br house with asbestos 40 years ago, USING A CIRCULAR SAW
and no mask, are now dying 40 years later. My mother helped him build it,
and has plaques on her lungs (or signs) but she wasn't on the saw 40 years
ago and is 81 now so..
And I'm 40 now, so IF I got it from a low dose, I figure I'm ok until I'm
80. But you won't get the answers you're looking for. I'd like to stick a
hose down my lungs to flush that mistake out.
I think it's ok unless you've had "heavy" doses though. The more particles,
the more damage. I don't see the people with low exposure 40 years ago in
big trouble now.

Subject: [MESOTHELIOMA SUPPORT] Can I get mesothelioma from only a small
amount of asbestos exposure?
I was exposed to asbestos in the ducts of my old office when the AC
units were pulled out of the ceiling. I was only in the room briefly
to move some equipment. I found some information on how it becomes
airborne at www.airborneasbestos.com but I still find myself worried
that I enhaled asbestos and that I could get mesothelioma or
asbestosis. Can I get sick from just a few minutes of exposure? Or
am I just being paranoid?
Thanks,
BB
