I am so sorry to hear that your father has this awful disease, you are
absolutly right about it being not fair. My father also was never a somker or
drinker, and a very hard worker. We originally were given the same advice
basically to to home and enjoy your last 9 months with pallative chemo, but then
Cleveland Clinic thought they could get all the cancer by removing his lung
which they said they did and he was given a clean bill of health 2 weeks before
he passed away but was having severe "anxiety attacks" so we were told. After
taking him to a local hosp. during one of these attacks found that the cancer
had spread to his stomach and spine and that he had developed pnumonia in his
one lung which resulted in him being on a ventilator then having a stroke when
being weaned from the ventilator. The chemo the oncologist prescribed for my
father was called cysplatin which made him very ill but he did not lose his hair
but it did cause dramatic weight loss and it also
affected his hearing. We also tried a herbal Dr. that recommended nutrional
intervention and internal flush products. i don't think my father was on them
long enough to make a differance though. Please keep in touch i know how scary

Thank you so much for your email. We just went to a couple of doctors
visits in the last two days, one to an oncologist and one to an integrative
medicine doctor. The oncologist wants to put him in a pallative chemo
treatment and the integrative doctor is supplementing him with vitamins and
minerals hoping to boost his immune system.

From everything I have been researching most positive results are derived
from alternative nutrition therapies and not so much from the chemo. I am
still researching other doctors in the area, right now we are with a cancer
center in NJ called the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center. I will try to call
Sloan and the Mayo clinic to see if I can get any information from them
(thank you so much for that advise). The problem is that everyone I call
wants to see him and wonąt give information. They want him to start the
chemo right away since the Mesothelioma is so aggressive that I donąt know
when I am going to have the time to take him elsewhere.

I am so sorry about your father, this disease is just not fair. My dad has
always been a healthy man, never abused foods, smoking, or alcohol &shy; he was
always a hard worker and worked at the navy yard for several years and also
in construction. Unfortunately this is the way he was re-paid for his hard
work. He was diagnosed during a thorocoscopy and was told surgery is not an
option as the mesothelioma is already spread throughout his chest cavity.
