I have seen a client twice about her phobia for movement (in
particular flying) and I don't feel I am making enough headway. Part
of her phobia stems from the fact that she is deaf in one ear and
believes her internal balance is responsible for her body sensations
(drop sensation in the stomach and giddiness)

Can I have some advice please about clearing her belief sheilds about
being free of her phobia as it is like concrete and I'm finding it
very had to break it down. She has tried all manner of treatments
before (hypno, counselling, flight simulation) and has spent thousands
of pounds and nothing has worked. She has come to try ET and EFT but
she believes it wont work and made that quite clear from the start.

I have tried statements of "Even tho I'll never be free of this" and
"Even tho I've tried all these things nothing has worked" and I've
managed to get her down from 10 to 8 even with the gamut sequence. I
can tell from her body language that she is still shielded and negative.

We used ET on the first session and cleared her earliest memory. We
even used ET to great success on running through in her mind being at
the airport to actually taking off and landing in a plane. All body
responses flowed some from her stomach and down the legs. On other
things she had a complete total body response which we found the
epicentre to be the head and released it.

The trouble was one week later on her second appointment she was
being negative and unable to focus, move or shift her blockages. And
there seemed an unwillingness to even try. I explored where her
beliefs are and she said in the head. When I tried to ET the feeling
in her head her mind would not focus on it. Part of me thinks this is
due to the fact that she had a shift and her Autogenic Universe is
trying to cling on to her belief system and patterns of behaviour.

I decided to move to EFT so that her mind had some words to focus on.
I still don't feel I have managed to break through her barriers and
it feels as though I need to tackle her belief mechanism as it is
stopping me getting to the actual problem. She keeps telling me how
hard she is, it's almost like she wants to defeat yet another therapy!

I tried tapping on the actual fear that "even though I dread the body
sensations" which started as a 10, but that only cleared to 8 after
several rounds.

Any ideas please would be gratefully appreciated. I am seeing her
again next week.

So many thanks
Kim

Hi Kim

It sounds like your client isn't giving herself permission to heal, for some
reason - might be worth digging a bit on that. Feelings of self-worth, or belief
that she doesn't deserve to heal come to mind, as well as her conviction that
it's impossible to overcome this.

Try changing the statements a bit, such as instead of 'Even though I'll never be
free of this...' you could change that to 'Even though I BELIEVE I'll never be
free or this....'

You could then extend that statement further after a few rounds, such as adding
'.......I allow myself to be free of it' - or 'I choose to be free of it'

There are a lot of helpful hints on permission to heal on the following link

Hope you find something to break through her armour soon!

hugs
June

I had another thought, maybe subconsciously your client is benefitting in some
way by not allowing herself to heal. This is often termed 'Secondary Gains', and
you might need to look at that for possible issues to deal with first. Try this

Thank you so much June for the info. I will have a really good read
of it. It kept me awake for about an hour last night trying to think
of if I had not covered an angle or what else I could try. I will
take a look at her secondary gains although she tells me she feels
really bad for having this phobia as it affects her partner (she left
him at an airport once as she refused to go on the plane and he had to
go alone).

I did ask her if she was ready to release this and she said yes but I
have to say I wasn't convinced. I will work on her willingness to
self heal. We spoke at length about her Blueprint and that she
wasn't born with these beliefs and fears. She has said I have given
her a lot to think about. I do believe she needs some time to digest
the info.

Let's hope next week goes better. I'll let you all know and if anyone
else has a thought, please chip in

Thanks to all
Kim

I agree about the "secondary gains", and that could very well be to
preserve an important aspect of her identity: being a "hard person" to
help. On some level, she might derive a sense of
strength/stability/homeostasis through her unconscious stubbornness to
change. You may want to focus on a couple of points: 1 - the body and
mind's natural resistance to change (safety issues on biological,
social and psychological levels) 2 - Preserve her identity by aligning
strength (and whatever other self-image aspects you may dig up) to the
change you're after.

Here are a couple of setup statements you may want to try:
-Even though my body feels threatened by this possible change....
-Even though my body feels safer with this fear....
-Even though, strangely, it's better for me to keep this fear
-Even though I just don't want to change, it feels scary...

-Even though I'm a "hard nut to crack"...
-Even though you can't help me, I'm a tough patient, nobody can help me
-Even though becoming fearless of flying/movement (?) will totally
disrupt my life...who will I be without this part of me?....
-Even though this can't possibly work, it's just repeating silly words
and tapping...

-What if this does work?....
-What if I change and no longer have this fear?...
-I wonder if I can feel safe on all levels without this fear?
-I wonder if I really can allow myself to change and be free?
-What will my (friends, spouse, etc.) think if I get over this?
-Maybe I can feel safe and peaceful with this change...
-What if I can be strong, maybe even stronger by allowing myself to
change?

Anyway, just a few thoughts that came to mind. I wish you the very best,
Peter

rneyHi Kim,
Your situation reminds very much of my case study earlier in the year as I
qualified for EFT.
I had a friend with impotence problems as well as facing redundancy and he was
very hard of hearing.
I found that I had to do a lot of emotinal work on his feeling towards his
hearing, as although it did not effect directly his sexual ability, it did have
underlying emotional issues in respect of confidence. The whole flight thing may
also mask the underlying cause.
Your clients hearing issues seem almost spererate, however i would be inclined
to look at how her hearing makes her feel also.
Secondly how does your client know it has not worked?
Interestingly my case study came each week, and when I asked he said nope no
change. However he met a new girl friend just afer I did some ET work with him
ablout lowering shields. He reports that his sex life has never been better!!!
Is there a way you could arrange to meet her at a local airport, tap about the
awkwardness and feeling she has about thinking about it etc before hand,
Actually try it out?

Just a few thoughts on stuff I learned.... sorry if its case of teaching granny
to suck eggs.

Hi Jo, Thanks for that advice, I will also explore her feelings about her
hearing.
We haven't touched on that yet. She went deaf at the age of 2 and might
have some
residual feelings about that.

I was thinking today that she needs a live test. She also gets the same
sensations when
she is being driven in a car (she is OK when she drives herself). So I plan
to take her
out for a drive this week and soften and flow as we go....! I think a
practical demonstration
is definitely called for here.

Everyones input has been so appreciated. Where as I was feeling quite
deflated after
the appointment this week, I now can't wait to see her again.

Love
Kim
