Re: [MET] Which part of "NO"

Hi Blaine,
The "only use positives" thing used to confuse me as well. It finally made
sense to me when someone explained it this way:
If someone says to you, "don't think of a sailboat," the first thing you will do
is picture a sailboat in your mind. So if you say "I don't get sick," your mind
first has to think of you getting sick and then try to overcome that
imagery/thought.

So, using the positive statement skips the step of having to think of the
negative first. But I guess that's not to say that the negative won't work for
someone who is able to overcome that extra step. Maybe the husband has used
this method for so long that his mind is able to skip the negative thought
altogether. I also think what you believe plays a huge part. In other words,
if you believe the negative affirmation is bad, then it will be bad for you. If
you don't have a problem with it, then it will work for you.

Anyway, this is just what made sense for me.... I'm sure there are other
theories.

Best,
Sasha

I think that the most important thing is to come up with a statement which is really compelling for you (or your client). In 1968 I quit smoking, suddenly, and...
