Re: [MET] Can someone help with me a flight/movement phobia

rneyHi Kim,
Your situation reminds very much of my case study earlier in the year as I
qualified for EFT.
I had a friend with impotence problems as well as facing redundancy and he was
very hard of hearing.
I found that I had to do a lot of emotinal work on his feeling towards his
hearing, as although it did not effect directly his sexual ability, it did have
underlying emotional issues in respect of confidence. The whole flight thing may
also mask the underlying cause.
Your clients hearing issues seem almost spererate, however i would be inclined
to look at how her hearing makes her feel also.
Secondly how does your client know it has not worked?
Interestingly my case study came each week, and when I asked he said nope no
change. However he met a new girl friend just afer I did some ET work with him
ablout lowering shields. He reports that his sex life has never been better!!!
Is there a way you could arrange to meet her at a local airport, tap about the
awkwardness and feeling she has about thinking about it etc before hand,
Actually try it out?

Just a few thoughts on stuff I learned.... sorry if its case of teaching granny
to suck eggs.
Jo x

Subject: [MET] Can someone help with me a flight/movement phobia

I have seen a client twice about her phobia for movement (in
particular flying) and I don't feel I am making enough headway. Part
of her phobia stems from the fact that she is deaf in one ear and
believes her internal balance is responsible for her body sensations
(drop sensation in the stomach and giddiness)

Can I have some advice please about clearing her belief sheilds about
being free of her phobia as it is like concrete and I'm finding it
very had to break it down. She has tried all manner of treatments
before (hypno, counselling, flight simulation) and has spent thousands
of pounds and nothing has worked. She has come to try ET and EFT but
she believes it wont work and made that quite clear from the start.

I have tried statements of "Even tho I'll never be free of this" and
"Even tho I've tried all these things nothing has worked" and I've
managed to get her down from 10 to 8 even with the gamut sequence. I
can tell from her body language that she is still shielded and negative.

We used ET on the first session and cleared her earliest memory. We
even used ET to great success on running through in her mind being at
the airport to actually taking off and landing in a plane. All body
responses flowed some from her stomach and down the legs. On other
things she had a complete total body response which we found the
epicentre to be the head and released it.

The trouble was one week later on her second appointment she was
being negative and unable to focus, move or shift her blockages. And
there seemed an unwillingness to even try. I explored where her
beliefs are and she said in the head. When I tried to ET the feeling
in her head her mind would not focus on it. Part of me thinks this is
due to the fact that she had a shift and her Autogenic Universe is
trying to cling on to her belief system and patterns of behaviour.

I decided to move to EFT so that her mind had some words to focus on.
I still don't feel I have managed to break through her barriers and
it feels as though I need to tackle her belief mechanism as it is
stopping me getting to the actual problem. She keeps telling me how
hard she is, it's almost like she wants to defeat yet another therapy!

I tried tapping on the actual fear that "even though I dread the body
sensations" which started as a 10, but that only cleared to 8 after
several rounds.

Any ideas please would be gratefully appreciated. I am seeing her
again next week.

So many thanks
Kim

Hi Kim It sounds like your client isn't giving herself permission to heal, for some reason - might be worth digging a bit on that. Feelings of self-worth, or...

I had another thought, maybe subconsciously your client is benefitting in some way by not allowing herself to heal. This is often termed 'Secondary Gains', and...

I agree about the "secondary gains", and that could very well be to preserve an important aspect of her identity: being a "hard person" to help. On some...
