Hi Cognac,
I have a couple of suggestions that may not be in the book, but which I've
found very effective. Those reasons why EFT might not work are really good
ones, but sometimes when you try to think through all of them, it can just
get way too confusing. Sometimes it helps to use things that can bypass the
huge snarl of concerns and conflicts, rather than either (A) pushing your
desire through them by brute force, or (B) going on long detours from your
main intent while you tackle them all one by one.
Here are two alternatives:
1) Use Gary's suggestion to treat yourself for psychological reversal
everytime you go to the bathroom. But instead of just using a very
sanitized, logical statement, please allow yourself to rant. You're alone,
okay? There is no one to laugh while you rub that sore spot, and whine and
cuss your concerns. There isn't a wrong way, but it might go something
like, "even though I have this (#%&(%& problem with my &@*##$ and every dang
time I try to fix it, I just get so bamfoozled by all this #*Y%*#Y# and god
knows I'd never want to lose my attachement to this STUPID problem, I still
love and accept myself completely and profoundly..."
I know it sounds dumb. I know you'll probably feel silly trying it. But if
you give it a chance, you'll probably tap a vein before too long, and a lot
of ranting will just spew out of you, and then you'll feel much calmer.
Think of it like an emotional blackhead or something. What comes out is not
pretty or pleasant, but you are better without it.
Anyway, try that about five times a day for a while. As Gary suggests, if
you do it everytime you go to the bathroom, that's a good five or so times,
evenly spaced throughout the day.
2) I use Zensight for this one, though you could use EFT. You can do it
just before bed, if you want. Make the set up statement, "even though I
have all these concerns and fears about healing this problem, I know I don't
have to worry about fixing them all. I now gently and lovingly allow all
those concerns to heal themselves, in the most peaceful manner, while I
sleep, for my highest good."
This tells your subconscious mind that it's okay to release all this, and
since it will be "for your highest good," it's safe.
Good luck!!
