My Friends,
The following movies concerning Eating Disorders will be airing on
Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) today, Wednesday, February 8, 2006 and
repeating tomorrow, Thursday, February 9, 2006:
1) "For The Love of Nancy" (Based on a true story),
2) "The Secret Between Friends,"
3) "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes" and
on February 20, 2006, on Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) "Kate's
Secret."
All this month, Encore will been airing, "The Karen Carpenter Story"
(Based on a true story.). Please check your cable/satellite guide
for show times of these movies.
Now, I do not necessarily agree with all the methods used in these
movies, but they do offer a good understanding about eating disorders
and how it effects the suffer, family, friends, etc., especially, the
movie, "For The Love of Nancy."
However, I only wish that Hollywood and the public in general would
realize that males also struggle with Eating Disorders and that when
people say the word(s) Anorexia Nervosa and/or Bulimia Nervosa that
these two are not the only the types of Eating Disorders that people
are struggling with.
There is nothing wrong with eating small portions 6 or 8 times per
day. So if you go out to a restaurant and cannot eat everything that
is served do not feel guilty about taking it home and eating it.
Sadly, our society is so obsessed with Super Sizing everything,
wanting a "quick fix" for a problem(s), i.e., a pill to makes things
all better, etc.
Yes, you can become "cured" of your Eating Disorder. I believe and
know this and as does ANAD, Peggy Claude-Pierre, and few other
medical professionals, and treatment centers.
If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please feel
free to contact me and/or Lynda our RN Consultant.
I thank you for your time. Please remember, that I do really care
what happens to each and everyone of you and your loved ones.
Furthermore, I honestly do understand how difficult it is to struggle
with an Eating Disorder(s) because you have to deal with food on a
daily basis for the rest of your life. Remember, food is not the
primary problem. There is always a reason why you or someone you
love has an Eating Disorder(s) and once you get to the root of this
problem via therapy you will begin to see this. I am not saying that
it is easy because it is not. I have great faith that we will all
make it and that is what we are all here/hear for..support.
There really is a foreign language or different language when it
comes to Eating Disorders. Hence, the book entitled, "The Secret
Language of Eating Disorders : How You Can Understand and Work to
Cure Anorexia and Bulimia" by Peggy Claude-Pierre.
If you and/or anyone ever needs to chat, e-mail, or call me, please
know that I am always available. I do have a toll free telephone
number which you and/or your loved ones can call anytime. If you
would like our toll free telephone number please feel free to let me
know. Most importantly, remember you and/or your loved ones are
never alone and it is always darkness before the dawn!
Take care of yourself and each other. Please do not hesitate to
reach out for support, advice, etc. Ok?
