Hey Dan! I've been through the Iowa program twice. Once in a while there
are other guys in it too, but it was just me with a group of girls. Every
Friday they have Men's Group, but it's just Dr. Anderson, a social worker
(Frank) and whoever is in the program at the time (which was just me). I hate
to
say this, but the program did shit for me. It has to be the strictest
program in the nation and the tough love approach didn't work for me. In fact,
I
relapsed because I had so much anger towards them. They ended up committing
me and sending me to an old residential facility with very old people who are
mentally handicapped. After 4 months I couldn't take it anymore and escaped.
I'm now in another state and trying to start a new life. I'm so angry
though. I can never go home (to Iowa) again otherwise they'll throw me back in
there. My target weight is 171-175 and they overshot me to 183. What is up
with that? I've lost 30 lbs since leaving and don't plan on stopping.
Hopefully I'll change my attitude, but it's going to take a while. Talk to you
later!
