Re: [meningioma] Melodie

Thank you Shirley for your email! I do feel all alone
in my own little world with this. Did you have
surgury? and are still having these symptoms, or have
you not had surgury? These symptoms are really weird,
I am on dilantin for brain seizures, the only
nuerologist here wont accept medicade, the way I
learned of my meningioma is thru the hospital, when
thru blood work and all, they could not find anything,
they sent me for an open mri, now I am rapidly
changing. I need you to please continue typing me, you
are the only one I am talking with about this, I can
only handle a few things at a time! Do these symptoms
get worse usually?, or stay the same pretty much? I
too have smelled things that I dont know where the
smells are coming from! I also have sleep apnea and am
on a c-pap machine, but I am not worried about that! I
am not paying alot of attention to this meningioma
either because there are no doctors here for me to go
to. I have my original slides in my possesion, and so
if I begin to feel way to strange, I will go thru the
E.R. again! Please take care, and I will be praying
for you everyday! Sincerely, Melodie

Hi pussy-cat; its good to hear from you too. I try NOT
to
think too much about the little sucker in my head.
If I do , I get weepy and panicky and scared.
People have advised me to get a notebook and just take
a few minutes a day to write how I feel and any
symptoms
I'm having. It will be invaluable as the doctors want
to know when this
started and I have a tendency to forget or minimize my
symptoms and also
confusion and forgetfulness are sister and brother to
dizziness and
ringing in ears.
I do sway sometimes and I don't notice it until I'm
way over, so I make
a point of when I stand anywhere to keep
one of my calves pressed against a chair or rest my
hand on something. I
always take a cart even if I'm picking up a
prescription, as it helps me
balance and walk faster.
Lately someone asked me why my left hand was slightly
shaking and I
hadn't noticed it. Its not constant but happens
rarely.But have read
since that could be a type of small seizure.
I'm glad you are going for another opinion and do find
a
doctor whos caring if you have to go to another one.
You may see a neurologist too as they can usually
oversee your condition,
take routine MRI's and moniter
your meds. A surgeon does the surgery and turns you
loose as soon as possible, so for the long haul it
good to
have a good Neurologist. Are you taking your films and
radiology and office visit reports? You need to do
that
to save time as another opinion can only be givin
after looking at you
first then all the records and reports.
The hosp where you had the MRi has a form for you to
fill out to release them and I've heard they can put
the films on a CD
now.
Sadly, its true that unless your talking to another
meningiomate no one
can really understand what you are feeling.
Symptom-wise , I believe that
if your brain is swollen even a little from the
pressure it can effect
most
areas. I have had bad smells that woke me up from
sleep.
attacks of acute vision and hearing, etc, etc, etc.
Have you gotten some good info on the nuts and bolts
of
this problem? Meningioma Talk on yahoo is a wonderful
place to ask
anything and tons of people to be so supportive its
unbelievable. Two
girls on there, Anne Breen and Karen something,
research and publish
articles about these tumors. the also have a list of
sites
where there are doctors that specialize in this kind
of surgery. I hope
you look into this, it makes me feel better
to know more about whats going on in my body I think
it takes some of the
fear away.
God bless you, girl, and I will pray that you find the
perfect doctor and
become peaceful and joyous in spite
of it all.
Shirley
