Re: [Meniere's Disease Club] plane trip

HI Kat:

Im very sorry about your Dad being so ill.
I have had menieres for over 5 years now, and took my first plane trip (since I
was 10) last month, I took a valium before flight and besides some nervousness,
I was fine, the return flight was quite turbulent also. I do have a tube in my
left (bad) ear which makes pressure not a problem, but I flew with a friend who
gets extremely air sick. I gave her Gingertrips chewable ginger and mollasses
and she was sooo much better thanusual, didnt even get nauseous.

I have been getting gentamyacin shots since last March, and since then do not
have spins. Still have symptoms of Menieres but I can manage them.

I cant imagine the stress your going through worrying about your Dad,but also
worrying about how you'll get there. Theres also motion sickness patches, your
doctor can prescribe. I was advised to take a decongestant before the flight to
ease pressure.

Talk to your ENT or Otaranologist, I thought I would never have relief and NEVER
thought I would have flown, but i did with little issue.

Please take care and keep us posted on how it went.

Best wishes,

Lori

Hello everyone. I haven't posted a message in a long time. But, I need
some help. As much as I don't want to I must take a plane trip from FL
to CA for an emergancy. I was wondering if anyone has any tips that
would make my flight go easier. Even though I was Dx a few years ago I
have never been able to take a flight without the lovely embarrassment
of vomiting during the flight. I have not been back in a plane for
about 15 years and I am very nervous about it. On top of the reason I
must do it is very stressfull alone. My father is dying and I must go
see him. Needless to say, I'm sure the attacks will be in full swing.
Thank you. Kat
