Eat with Full Awareness
"Before you eat, thank God or the nature,
who gave you the food. Feel for others who
do not have such food at this time, and
mentally share your food with them. Then,
too, think of the qualities of the food,
what you expect to get from that food, what
is the purpose of eating, and concentrate
on the eating itself. Think, `I am chewing
well, I have half-digested the food in my
mouth, then the rest is going to get digested
in the stomach.' If you eat with full awareness,
you will extract maximum energy from the food.
Otherwise, you are just putting the food through
a funnel; it just drops into the stomach and
passes on. When you eat with full concentration,
you get the maximum benefit, and that is the real
yogic way to eat.
