Hi everyone,
My name is Catherine, I live just outside of Vancouver, BC and I'm
just about to start my MT course online and looking forward to getting
on with my career and getting to know y'all as well.
Did anyone here take their course through Canscribe??
Bye for now
Catherine
I am trying to decide which text expander to purchase and would like advice from
those of you who use different ones such as Shorthand and IT (or any others) and
the pros and cons of each program. I need to purchase one asap, but I am
looking for one that will offer me the most as far as productivity goes but does
not cost me an "arm and a leg" as funds are limited. I am also looking for one
that is easy to work with. Any and all input is GREATLY appreciated!

My advisor told me it's best to start working at a local company and get a
few years experience before I try looking anywhere else. Research on the net
to see if your local hospitals/clinics hire their own MTs and also search
for MT companies in your area that do reports for the local hospitals and
clinics that contract with them. My advisor stressed that it's important to
work for someone first and learn from them. I'm just a newbie like you, but
it makes sense to me. This field seems to be strongly based on research
skills, and knowledge. We couldn't possibly learn everything in a 1 or 2
year tech school or any other program.

I am really interested in the Medical Transcription field. I will be
graduating from a medical office program on 02/08/2006. My question
is, does anyone know how I can get started in the field without the
seemingly standard two years of experience? Also would appreciate any
information anyone has on transcribing from a home office. Thank you,
Cheryl

Hi, new member here. I just graduated from Minnesota State and
Community Technical College-Moorhead last week. I have not tried
looking for a job as a MT yet but I do have a stable job in something
else. I just needed a break first. It is great to see there is a group
here for MTs. I hope to learn from others and lend support.

What I heard was that MXsecure sometimes gives impossible dictations
and when the transcriptionist complains, they give even worse
dictations. I'm glad you have never had this problem. I have been

I am currently working for them and have not had any problems. I absolutely
LOVE my job with MxSecure! This is the first and only MT job that I have had
and do not see myself going anywhere anytime soon. and could not have picked a
better company to work for. What negative things did you hear, as I have
NOTHING negative to say about them, and actually I am VERY surprised someone had
something bad to say about them. HTH

Subject: Re: [Medical Transcription Club] MT University Your Online Medical
Transcription School!
Here is a question, I am a medical transcriptionist, but I have been doing
sleep studies, EEG, and neurophysiology studies for the last 2 years, I want to
do medical transcription at home, I want to do everything, does anyone know
where I can get some practice or exposure to all other types of reports, I have
tried testing for some of the home transcription companies and I haven't done
well, because I went from school into the job I am in. I don't want to pay 5-7
hundred dollars to learn something I already know, is there another alternative,
I have searched on line and have come up with nothing, any help would be greatly
appreciated.
