Re: [medicalerrors-solutions] Patient Safety Awareness Week March 10-16 2002

Barry Levy,

Yes, I have a web site that includes information from the Institute of Medicine report.

My husband's medical complaints were incorrectly diagnosed by a licensed physician.  Medication was inappropriately prescribed for my husband, and after he ingested three to four capsules of the prescribed medication, he hemmorhaged repeatedly.  The ingested capsules destroyed my husband's liver.  The only way he would be able to live, was for him to receive a liver transplant.  As time passed, and we waited, a liver finally became available.  He received the Gift of Life.  Two months later, my husband died as a result of a massive brain stem hemmorhage due to the liver transplant. (He never needed a liver transplant prior to the physician's misdiagnosis and prescribing inappropriate medication.)

It was criminal what the physician did to my husband, and the physician got away with indirect murder of my husband.  The physician has caused deaths of other patients (of his), I later found out.  And the physician still "practices."

My husband is dead.  I received no compensation for what that physician did to my husband.  I am a victim, too, from that physician's medical malpractice.

Who will hear my story?  I will tell what happened to my husband and me to anyone who wants to know.  I am not intimidated by that physician.

My husband's dying request was for me to tell others how a physician can destroy a person's life to the point of death, because of gross misdiagnosis and prescribing inappropriate medication.

It is important because in California they are attempting to use criminal
codes to prosecute medical providers for things that go wrong during a
treatment.

The case in California could become very significant to the medical
profession and to all persons that are treated.

thank you,

Barry Levy
